I'm running .743 (upgraded from .402 or .405, whatever was the orginial) and the battery is about the same, I'm on bmm all day though and it will be down to 2 bars by the end of the night. Definitely faster, browser awesome, and 3G is great, but that's never been an issue before in my area (Orlando, FL). I gained about 20mb originally after the upgrade but after reinstalling some of the apps, it's more like 16MB. No issues whatsoever. The battery IMO is the same.
