This is not normal. You have an app running or updating in the background, or have a bad theme. What's have you installed?

all what ive installed is msn facebook and that's about it and the new bbm 5.0 it was like this before .. when i had the old bbm so i dont' think its the blackberry messenger
my brother has his app memory 64 MB and it never changes unless he does a new application...
so i'm wondering is this like a virus or something?
i even tried formatting the phone and all...

go to your home screen, click the bb button and switch applications

you should have 5 apps always running but facebook shouldn't be in that list.,

It is important that you close any applications you're not currently using (except of course the 5 apps that you can't totally close).

Seems an app running in the background is the culprit.

Do a battery pull now. You will not maintain the memory you can see right after the battery pull - the phone needs to use memory all day to function - but if you fully close your apps you shouldn't drop a huge amount. I usually start out with about 50MB and then fluctuate anywhere between 45-50.

and if not what am i supposed to do and how?

Contacts doesn't always have to be running. Open the contacts and completely close it.

The other 5 are constant running apps.

I've been having the same issue, only then I had 20MB, going down to zero in like 2 hours. I purchased quickpull pro to automatically restart after it falls under 5MB and then boom, every hour it seems it restarted.

So i took it in and the the techs reinstalled my OS, went back up to 40MB. If you're under warenty, just take it in. If not, then maybe you should try to reinstall your OS. Now I don't know how exactly yet cuz I've never done it yet but I'm sure it's around this forums somewhere..still a n00b here myself

Deleting Facebook is not going to solve your problem. What OS do you have? Upgrading -- or even reinstalling -- your OS will usually bump up your available memory significantly. In my experience, this is particularly true if you have installed and deleted any apps.

OS is the Operating System that is running on your Bold.

To find out what OS you have:

    Menu --> Options --> About

The 3rd line on this screen will show you the currently installed OS (e.g., v4.6.0.266)

    is it an old version?
how do i reinstall or update?
what are the exact steps needed to do for my application free memory space not to keep changing every minute
    Thanks again
