I have the 9700 & my roommate has the 8520. We both use the Otter Box Commuter case and we are constantly walking off with the other person BlackBerry because visually its hard to tell them apart. (I carried his around for 1/2 hour the other day till it rang...lol) But once you power them up, its not difficult at all!

The Bold 9700 has much better screen resolution than the curve 8520. I think it's the highest resolution you can get from a BB. The curve 8900 also has good resolution.

9700, 9650, 9630, and 8900 all share the exact same screen, it is the highest resoloution that you can get on a QWERTY BB.

I'm not disappointed at all, BlackBerry's will always look like BlackBerry's, they've got to look similar since they're all part of the same family. If you look at an Audi, you're going to know it's an Audi regardless of model, there are similarities across the model line, and it's the same with BB.

There is also a ton of chinese phones that look exactly like a blackberry bold. I once asked someone for their pin and she told me that its actually not a blackberry. That's how identical the look is, you really can't tell aside from the brand (which they place in the same location with the same style font as the blackberry).

But at the end of the day, its the functionality that counts.

Eh, I know what I have and what matters to me is that I have the top of the line BB (until the stupid 9650 came out right after I got my 9700, I want! lol). But many BB's look similar, but I've never had a problem telling models apart before
