I'm watching a couple of these on eBay and am considering picking one up to have as a second blackberry. I'm on a torch 9810 with at&t but I got to say I used a bold 9000 that a friend has the other day and It made me realize I really miss that keyboard bad. It might just be the best keyboard on a BB I've ever used and I've owned a few including a curve 8320 and a 9700.
I do have a couple of questions though those are what's the newest OS a 9000 can run and of I use one of the hybrid OS's will the tunein radio app work with either? Also I can remember will the 9000 support micro SD cards? Thanks for any input guys.

I've got an old 9000 still sitting around, and have thought about going back.
The real problem is the memory...you can't really install very many apps.
And I don't use many!! Even with a few apps, the memory is real low, so
there are a few good Memory or Reboot apps available (Memory Optimizer
and Quickpull)

I haven't used the radio app.

It does support a 16G Sd card

And I do have a hybrid OS that is better than stock...but it is 5.0 - no higher.
I don't know if you can find them out there anymore.

Great keyboard...but the best BB ever is the 9900, in my humble but correct
opinion :-)

Thanks guys and I don't use any apps really just the tune in radio app anyone know if that will work with OS 5? And what OS do you guys recommend for the 9000?

I have both a 9900 and a 9000 because I like the 9000. I bought a 9000 on ebay as a backup but I actually use it sometimes. Although, since I've gotten the berrylicious at&t hybrid os on my 9900, I haven't used it. The 9000 has both much better speakers and call quality than the 9900, but the 9900 has os 7, is faster, and has much better browsing. I also love the leather back and overall feel of the 9000. So I like and use both phones for different reasons. If you are looking to pick up an affordable used Berry, I would definitely recommend it.

I'd still use my 9000 sometimes. It was rock solid. From a time when "flagship" device meant something.

I bought a 9000 in best condition (no scratches etc) a few days ago for 87 Euro on Amazon. I connected it to the BlackBerry Desktop Manager after I removed both vendor.xml files. So I got the latest firmware 5.0.0.1728.

I just installed Facebook, Facebook Messenger and Spotify app. thats it. I tried to install some more News apps but the phone can't handle this.
I love this phone so much. But I am just using it till I can afford the 9900.

I currently own a Bold 9900 and just bought a Bold 9000 brand new and unlocked on ebay for only $71 USD. I got it as a backup phone, but use it mainly for TuneIn Radio, music, and videos due to the excellent speakers. Still love the overall hardware and performance of this flagship device!

I'm sure it works on both, but I have been using mine via wifi (no sim card).

I'm still going strong with my BB9000. Maybe I should have held out when I bought it though, I paid $125 but I hear everyone else paying less that $88 for theirs.....oh well. Love the phone, I have a bunch of app space left because I downloaded a VERY stable hybrid entitled JSL9000 v4.7 hybrid. This is just the most stable one I have encountered, as I have done my research and have found that this developer has the best Hybrid OS's for the BB9000. I downloaded all he had which was a total of 6. If you are looking for a good OS that will free up 59MB of memory this is it. Then after that you should head straight to desktop manager and pull out whatever apps you don't want. Then you should load the all-around swiss army knife utility app entitled "Advanced OS LED" man this is an awesome app, it replaces like 9 apps and uses less than 1MB!!! (actually it's 335KB)

Still using mine as my plan goes till May 2013. Will wait to see what comes out with BB10 and either upgrade to a new phone then or switch to iphone. My phone says it's running v5.0.0.900 bundle 1626 platform 5.2.0.89 - and afaik it's one of the last official os's.

My 9000 died last Summer. Cause of death = USB jack no longer functions, and therefore cannot charge anymore. Have since replaced it with a Torch 9810, so I'm still in the family.

Is the JSL9000 v4.7 hybrid compatible with mac? I am still stuck with software v4.6 bundle 172. I have read somewhere on this forum that I need BBSAK software to upgrade to a later version of OS. Unfortunately, BBSAK is only windows compatible.

I looked for an answer to that question but it appears its only windows. And its actually easier than using bbsak as the hybrid comes with its own installer that works real well. I borrowed my friends windows and now my 9000 is rocking!

I still have my bold 9000 and it still is Original except the trackball was replaced in dec 2012 other that its all original and still looking like new and the battery is too like it was from day one.

This phone by far can't be killed, well sorta speak that is, it is a tank and if u treat it well it will do the same back.

My son uses it now for a backup phone, i make sure it is charged up at least every 1-2 weeks.

Awesome phone and it still is fast.

The keyboard is outstanding, the OS is slick and responsive, the screen is highly vieweable and the sound quality still packs a punch. Not to mention the call quality which makes my HTC sound like a hollow tin can in comparison.

I'm a great believer in using products that work efficiently and reliably. I don't care for glitz and glamour - I need something that is robust and reliable. The Bold 9000 meets those requirements despite its perceived "outdatedness".

I'll still keep an eye out for BB10 which is due very soon even though I don't believe in launch hype and x.0 versions of any product.

I absolutely agree. I forgot how nice it is to be efficient until I started using the 9000 instead of my android
