For mobile phones is ebay riskier or amazon.com? Ebay might have scam? But what happens whenit is scam? What do they ship instead of the phone? Does amazon have the same risk?
Please help! Have ti make a decision

eBay has great buyer protection, I have never had any issues on eBay
really?
amazon is an actual corporation - just no retail stores
ebay is selling by individuals. Of course there will be risks for ebay because they are not always truthful
I like ebay because i can use paypal and i feel very safe with them.
I bought all my non-carrier bought phones from eBay, without issue

If you're talking Amazon as in shipped and sold by Amazon, it's no contest, they're an actual retailer.
If you're talking Amazon as in Amazon merchants, then it's about the same as eBay. They're individual sellers and your experience will vary greatly depending on how reliable they are. With individual sellers neither is really better, they both have buyer protection systems in place along with seller feedback/reputation systems.
I'll buy from whichever has the best balance of a low price, reputable seller, and located as close to me as possible. Regardless of which you choose, I would advise to pay with a credit card. If you do run into a scam, most credit card companies will step in and help out, usually refunding the money. It's one more layer of protection, just in case.
on both sites you need to check sellers reviews and his ratings and go from there.
also if any negative feedback just check it, if its just for shipping delay then its not a big deal
The OP is talking about Amazon Marketplace, not Amazon itself. Amazon Marketplace is just like eBay, risks and rewards included.
In this case they would be about the same. PayPal would protect you with eBay and Amazon would protect you, even with it's third party sellers.
To tell you the truth, I would go with a good rated eBay seller as they would likely ship faster than Yapper but then who knows. One would not be safer than the other unless it was Amazon selling it which will happen one day.
Everyone here is exactly right... But I have bought many phones off Ebay in the past and I've never had any issues or problems. They usually are exactly as describe. Just dont deal with anyone that has a low (or no) seller rating percentage wise.
And of course always use paypal. They are great about refunding if you get stuck with a ****ty seller.
Why not just ask one of us CrackBerry members to buy it and ship it to you? It'll probably be a lot cheaper. That's what I would do, but I'm probably too trusting...:)
I've been trying to buy one from ebay for the past 6 days. My paypal won't make payments outside of the US, so I've been trying to buy from a seller who is in the US.
All their listings are so generic when it comes to working on GSM network. I've emailed 4 sellers asking if the unit is branded or unbranded and if it'll work on ATT's HSDPA+ (Just wanted to make sure) and I haven't received any replies yet.
I buy and sell on Ebay all the time and only use/accept PayPal because of the buyer protection. If you're buying a cell phone on Ebay just have to be careful. Make sure it states in the auction it has a clean ESN and you use PayPal. As someone said unless it's from Amazon.com itself your just buying from another individual or company. Just use common sense..look at the feedback and only use PayPal if you're on Ebay.
