Am I the only 9700 owner coming from the 8900 who misses the keyboard??.. I was messing around in T-mobile & hopped on the 8900. I prefer it's keyboard soo much more. I just wish a quieter version came on our 9700's

Personally, I don't see how anyone could not prefer the 9700 keyboard. I think it -- and on the 9000 before it -- are the best keyboard currently available on a phone.
i dont mind either one. i do however look at my poor 8900 and do miss it sometimes. its mostly the look of it. both phones are good though. i couldnt imagine going back to the 8900 though because of the trackpad and the 3G on the 9700.
Yea i've never really cared for the new keyboards. I had the Tour, Bold, Bold 2....they're all pretty much the same. I was much fast with my old curve, which is similar to the 8900 keys. They're so loud though.
its so weird, I hear about the 9700 keyboard making noise. LOL. I must have the only 9700 whose keyboard doesn't make noise when the keys are pressed. NO noise at all....................IDK
so far i'm pretty slow on the 9700 keyboard but i've only had it for 2 days
on my curve i was so much faster
i never liked the bold/88XX keyboards, i hope i get used to it
Hmmm, i've never had such a quiet keyboard as my 9700. Best keyboard IMO (with the Tour)
+1
It is waaaaay more quiet than a 83XX/85XX/8900-style keyboard.
When I first got the Tour, I didn't hate the new keyboard, but for some reason I formed this impression in my head that I could type faster on my old 8330's keyboard.
In my head was the only place this was true as I discovered when upgrading my wife's old 8330 and helping people in the office with 8330's. I find the 83XX clicks, crinkles, and almost squeaks as the keyboard is used.
I too hated the 9700 keyboard, thought I really screwed myself by getting rid of the 8900. It took a few weeks to get use to it but now I type faster on the 9700 than I did on the 8900.
I always press the outside of keys where they're raised. I can hit the key dead-on flat with my thumb overlapping the surrounding keys and I still press the correct key. IMO RIM did a good job on this keyboard, it just doesn't seem like it initially if you're use to Curve style keyboards.
i also prefer the 8900 style keyboard. i grew up on an 8300 and simply love it, still do. i just pulled it out of my drawer to test, and i can still type with blazing speed. it is definitely louder, but i liked the clicks of each button. the combination of near-silence with flush keys on the 9000 and 9700 is too much for me. i make way too many errors still, and i've been using the phone for 3 months now

I'm way faster on the curves also... & I dont like being the slow poke in convos.
My main complaint with the keyboards are the speed and flow of typing. Noise is secondary IMO. And with the 8900, I was faster. But I cant leave the one I love (9700) for something else that has a feature I liked (8900)..

Yup same here...mines quiet so i dont know why people are saying its noisy.
The 8900 keyboard is far more noisier and i absolutely loathe it...its ugly as well...ive used my friends 8900 and i didnt like it one single bit.
9700 and 9000 Bold keyboards are much much better.

I couldn't have sid this any better... But where do we go from here?? lol.... wait for the next device i suppose .:::shrugs::.
When I initially got my 9700 I did miss the 8900 keypad as I found it easier to type on. However, I got used to my 9700 keypad.
