    I inherited a couple Bold 9900s and one them will only boot in safe mode. The keyboard doesn't work, some buttons don't work either. Very strange behaviour. I installed the latest OS but I am having the same issue.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

    The keyboard is broken. Safe mode is usually initiated when the back button (the button on the right of the trackpad) is pressed and held throughout power up.

    Replacing the keyboard will address the keyboard issue. That doesnt mean everything else works properly though.
