i tried the "alt nmll" hack to get numbered signal strength as opposed to the bars, it was just blank. Does this hack work for the 9700?

different question:

had an 8900 curve dropped in water...didn't wait till it was completely dry, installed the battery and now it doesn't run at all. Any chances the 8900 will run again with a new battery?

Not sure it will . . . coz I'm guessing the the phone is water damaged now

It might be too late but have a look at the link in my signature on how to treat a wet BB-the right way

Works on mine. Maybe try a different theme.
