Using the bold 9700 and whenever i hit alt then del by accident, it erases my entire message. Is there any way to remove this feature?

same, it used to be the same as in email, just deleted the charcter highlighted or to the right of the cursor, this is effing annoying. posted a thread on here under 9700 forums, hopefully there is an answer...WHY can it not be the same as in the email field??! it used to be on 4.x OS

Yeah, I'm still getting use the keyboard and seem to keep hitting Alt + Del accidently, and it always happens when I'm typing a long message, lol

This makes me effin crazy!!! If any of your guys from RIM are reading this... Those of us with big mits HATE this... Allow us to turn it off or do away with it completely!!! This is the ONLY thing I dislike about my new 9700!!

I agree....this has occurred with me a few times, seems like an OS build oversight as it never happened previously.

Update OS, it has been corrected in latest OS. I know mine does not do it on OS .423

I'm on .344 which is a handset supplied by vodafone UK. Looks like I need to read up on how to update it then. Thanks

I still have this problem and I find it VERY frustrating. When I go to Options and About it says I running v5.0.0.405 (Platform 5.1.0.112).

Also, does this upgrade/update automatically?

.423 is not official for at&t so it will not upgrade automatically you will have to download the os and delete all other os versions along with the vendor.xml file

OS .423 got rid of that annoying feature. Alt+Del no longer deletes the entire paragraph

still need a a fix for this...just updated to 5.0.0.602 (official ATT) and it's still deleting my texts!!!

this reminds me of when homer was trying to get fat so he could work from home, and he tried to dial 911, but got the message that his fingers were too fat. ahah

this was seriously a stupid code to embed in sms texts. If i want to delete the entire contents, I can hold shift and hit up and it will select everything and then I could hit delete. alt+del makes NO SENSE to me...FIX IT!

I had the same problem in .405 and now in .602 so its a bug in that they DIDN'T delete the code for in .602!

we need a fix, damnit!

It's back. I'm also on .602 from AT&T and it's in there.

In fact, I just noticed it AFTER I updated from .405 to .602.... But, I only had my 9700 for just over 2 weeks before I updated. So, it could have been there in .405 and I didn't trip it.

Just upgraded to 9700/5.0.0.743 and it looks like they disabled the feature, so happy
