That's a good reason to take it back - the name.

    Simply ludicrous!

at the end of the day... one word sums up why the 9650 has the advantage... ok, not a word but a number... 512
512 may be an advantage for sum but in my case, I never have more than 8-9 of my favorite apps installed so 256 is more than enough for me. Compared to my Tour (which is in paperweight mode) my 9700 has a much better signal reception (full 5 bars 99% of the time even in my basement at home)compared to a very jumpy and unstable signal on the Tour, and I never come close to needing a charge at the end of the day, and data/browsing speed....the 9700 is so much faster. Although the 9650 seems like a great phone, there is just no way I would trade the 9700 for that.

The battery and how it releases on the 9700 is better, but the SD card access is more robust on the 9650 (under battery... making running Apps from SD a possible future option???... A2SD apparently requires an SD card to be beneath a battery for it to comply with the standard... so it would make sense)
What are you talking about "A2SD"? No such thing for BB. And even if there was and it required the battery to cover the memory card, pretty much all BBs have accessible cards without battery removal. And even if they didn't, you could rig up battery connectivity to gain access to the card for whatever reason. It's not a good enough security measure if you ask me.

is this like "the toyota corolla is the most successful car of all time"?.. when they MEANT .."cars called toyota corolla account for the most sales over time"? which accounts for the fact it was a dozen different cars... but they were all called Corolla..

So, if you didnt follow that it means that if is says BOLD on it, then it IS a Bold.

confirms what? that you think it's better to have a cool looking phone that sounds crappy and drops calls, or you don't the value of the extra memory and web kit...something the 9700 will never have?

    please advise.

I really do not understand why people are asking/saying 9700 vs 9650.
Its basically the same device just with more memory, CDMA and WiFi.
I don't think its a reason to switch carriers.

Except the 9700 was the device the webkit browser was shown on..but hey, who's keeping track right?

Pitchforks and torches to the 9700! How dare there be comparable GSM and CDMA devices, with similar specs and shape! Tour owners must be king! KING!!!!

that may be true web site...but it doesn't change the memory issue or the "att crappy phone call service and voice quality" (his words, not mine).

BUT phone the name on the phone makes all the difference....riiiiight.

or this little jewel, "ATT phone qual stunk or i would not have gone back to VZW."

i must not be keeping track again, because i didn't know vzn had this phone.

Hey chip, I have dropped more calls on my s2 than I did on my 9700. With os .656 I hold 3g all the time now and this new 9700 does not have the hissing sound on a call.
I tried vzw and I know its the s2 not the network.

9700 is best over all berry.

yeah, umm not quite. Yeah the 9700 is the best that the GSM carriers have, but the all around best Blackberry on the current market is the 9650 Bold

I miss my 9700. Best berry ever made. Sleek, light incredible battery life...ATT phone qual stunk or i would not have gone back to VZW.

That said, the new tour w trackpad is not even close to a 9700. I am a fan of all berries but this marketing ploy annoys me for some reason.

I wish i had my 9700 back and could use it on VZW.

Just seems after having an 8310, 8330, 8900 9000 9700 and now an S2 that GMS berries work so much better minus att crappy phone call service and voice quality.

Sorry for the rant, just wish cdma berries were as good and did i mention i miss my 9700

once again your wrong. when 6.0 comes out, your going to wish you had all the memory the Bold 9650 has. Open GL on the 9650 as well which the 9700 doesnt have either will be very nice to have for developers.

Depending on when OS6 is released and the size of its footprint,it might come into play a lot sooner than a couple of years.........

Who cares which one is better? The one you prefer and serves you better is the best phone. For some it's the 9650, for others it's the 9700. There's no right or wrong here. We are lucky we have so many good phones to choose from. I need a strong signal/reception along with great battery and simultaneous voice/data (without the need of wifi) so the 9700 is the winner for me. Others need more memory , want open GL , and need or want to be on cdma so they will go for the 9650. Doesn't make one better than the other. In the end, before the end of the year, both phones will probably be inferior to some new berry anyways.

9700 has astonishingly better battery life than the Tour. Build quality is also better - and that leather door -- oooooohhh. So unless the 9650 has major battery life improvement (same battery as Tour - a smidge bigger) and the track pad is inferior, the CDMA Bold is just a Tour. 9700 is the best BB. Hoiw the heck would the track pad be inferior??? Can't wait to find out.

Mainly because you'd expect the 9650 to be all the 9700 was and then some given the name "Bold" and noting how long the 9700 has been out. 9650 has more memory - so what, most don't need it in practical day-to-day use.

In my opinion they are both great phones but the 9700 should have no problem handling OS 6 given they have been testing OS 6 on the 9700 for months now and it was the device used to present the webkit browser. I personally have 20 apps on mine with 129 mb left. I'm feeling good about that.
