My 9930, which has been working wonderfully for me for the last year, and had NO issues when I installed OS 7.1.0.755 a few months ago, has within the last two weeks developed issues with WiFi and radio strength. Specifically, I started noticing that it was showing weaker WiFi signal strength from my router at certain locations around the house than it used to. Further, the phone seemed to be showing 1X fairly frequently whereas it used to show 3G almost everywhere. Using my PlayBook as a control, the WiFi signal seems to be the same as ever...at least the signal strength indicator on the PB, crude as it is, shows the same readings as always. Only the 9930 shows decreased signal strength. And the phone almost always goes to 1X in the bedroom on the cradle, whereas it always stayed on 3G before. I've also tried connecting to the WiFi at work, and actually lost the signal on my 9930 while in the same room as the router! My Playbook was able to pick up the signal in the parking lot, roughly 60 feet away.

I've not installed or removed any apps in the last 30 days, nor have I changed the OS. Has this ever happened to anyone else, and is my phone most likely on its last legs? Conveniently enough, I've got 32 more days days until I can upgrade to a Z10 with Verizon. I'm hoping the phone lasts until then.

I recently started having the same problems. Mine is with Verizon and the OS is 7.1.0.861, Platform 5.1.0.606. Please let me know if you find anything on this.

Why don't you just try the latest OS? I have the 9900 and is struggling with the wifi strength recently too. I'm trying a hybrid OS to see if the helps it.
