Maybe it will help somebody - I just by luck discovered box with my old 9900. Tried to turn it on - obviously was dead. Tried to charge it using microUSB cable with 1.2A and later 2.1A - no luck. Red LED on for about 2s and then - nothing. Tried second battery - same thing. Just really randomly tried to put the phone in the dock - connected to the same charding USB cable and surprisingly - appeared battery icon and after few hours is my old 9900 working again.
So if somebody get troubles with deeply discharged batt - using dock stand is not the same as using microUSB directly.

hmm and you might be able to restore those discharged batteries with a wall charger, if you have one. Some people have reported leaving a battery to charge for a couple of days and that did the trick.

Fortunately batteries are cheap off Amazon for the JM-1's.

Do you plan on using the device or just checking it out?

I tried to leave it on charger for a weekend - no help. With a dock base it was on after 5 minutes.

No, sure not plan to use it - it was just nostalgic test
Using classic and I even don't know how to use 9900
