Anybody have the problem of their 9900 freezing on boot-up after a security wipe if you don't have BIS?

Mine worked fine with EE because they still offer BIS, but I ercently switched to BT and because they don't have BIS my phone freezes upon boot up after a wipe (at the stage where you are signing in etc.)

I don't have that problem (and I don't have BIS). On my device, I can bypass the sign in without freezing. Since you've already wiped it, maybe you should try reinstalling the OS. The 02 UK version works perfectly on mine. The link is in the first post of this thread. There's an install guide here.

So I pulled out the 9900 today, and I've been using the new iPhone 7 for almost 2 weeks. The first thing you notice first of all how small the 9900 seems in comparison but it's actually still the perfect size and just how good it feels in your hand. It is so solid. Even the 7 has a slight vibration buzz when you tap it near the camera. The quality is just there with Blackberry.

oh man so nice typing on this thing! I just want to type for the sake of typing.....I had turkey for supper and I sprinkled Tumeric Curcuma on it.....I bought gas today.......now I appreciate the clickiness of this thing......

I know the feeling. I feel like a speed demon on my 9900, and I don't have to think about where my fingers are going at all. This Passport on the other hand... it's better than a virtual keyboard, but it's no 9900.

I had an Olympia when I was in college. It was just for filling out forms back in the days when there was no such thing as fill-able fields on a PDF.

I had an Olympia when I was in college. It was just for filling out forms back in the days when there was no such thing as fill-able fields on a PDF.

I did my first two years of university with a manual typewriter, and then I dated a girl from one of my classes whose father worked for a newspaper so she got me my first used electric typewriter LOL it was like going from a Yugo to a Ferrari. I did like the manual typewriter though it was a lot of fun except when you made a mistake and then outcomes the liquid paper. Professors didn't allow more than one or two liquid papers mistakes on the page and they held it up to the light to know for sure.

Just a random thought here. As far as I am concerned, everything done after the BB9900 are a flop! Had them all including Dtek 60 and Priv (neither of which interested me). I use my BB9900 daily and also carry a larger Android phone when needing to cruise the web and take photos.

Haha... I did carry a rare portable Brother manual TW into the early 90s. Nothing better for filling old carbon copy forms. Still have it. Battery life is phenomenal... lol.

In college, some profs permitted NO corrections. Others were less hard core. One in particular, tho, demanded lab reports in carbon triplicate! No "onion paper", either. Lol. Had to really pound that old manual Brother to get clean third page! Some keys are bent a little from the experience. Lol. Liquid paper correction IS possible with carbons... crude but possible. Just NEVER remove them from the carriage till completely finished, tho. Lol.

Wish I had an old Underwood. Its KB seemed more precise than the portable Brother, on some levels. Brother is faster, tho. For me. Portable as it is, that Brother just can't hold a candle to 9900 for single handed typing over breakfast !...

Maybe I'm really in need of some sort of therapy, or something, but seeing that 99 tied to a wall triggers anxiety over all the things I could be getting done with it in hand... rather than demeaning the poor thing to primitive battery charging duties... haha... guess that sort of addiction is why I'm at CRACKberry... lol.

Those transition years resulted in some interestingly capable hybrids. Still gotta IBM Wheelwriter my old HP41 calculator prints & plots to! (long story lol). For me, "Trash" 80 was a giant leap from Tandy's Color Computer CoCo 2 which sported 8 colors and 32Kb of RAM! Lol. That's K for kilobytes... lol.

Of course I'm still capably proficient with Morse and Semaphore and might even fake my way thru smoke signals... BUT, global human communications achieved exquisite perfection with 9900. Imo.

From 1990-94, I went through three of those hybrid word processors, all in the Smith-Corona PWP series. One had a flip up 6-line monitor and a proprietary floppy disk system. The next was a supposed upgrade -- a Mac imitation that proved unusable -- it didn't have enough memory to deal with a 10-page paper, so I returned it, much to the dismay of the store owner. The last was almost identical to the first, but with about a 12" external monitor.

Before I started grad school, I saved enough money for a 486 laptop. Windows 3.1 was so stable that I stuck with it from 1994 to 2003 for all work-related files. I couldn't afford BSODs and lost work, and I saw my friends go through horror shows with Windows 95. That's when my wife grabbed the Olympia, because it was impossible to fill out forms with a bubble-jet printer.

Funny all the tech that's fallen by the wayside.

Well I could have bought that one for $25 and then spent $1000 Cdn shipping it to you but ya, prolly not worth it

New Rule, the 9900 will have exclusive Crackberry duties from now on! I gotta keep them batteries conditioned after all.

And yes that is an extended 6 foot charging cable for the 7, it has a little more freedom to "roam." But Blackberry is always more generous with Charging cable lengths!!!! The factory iphone cable is a weenie wittle 3 feet! That's like the width of my head.
