I know there is an old thread for this.
    http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=691882

But my problem is different. I have a 9900 WITHOUT an SD card on the card slot.

But it still gives the error. already reloaded twice! nothing happened.

from 7.0.... to 7.1.0.67(i think) then to 7.1.0.267(latest)

All with the same problem. I might return it for warranty but that's the last thing I wanna do.

I tried even buying a new SD card nothing happened. It still shows the error. But when I plug it in on my 9780 the SD card work fine without any problem.

    Any suggestion?

Try to "safely remove media card" [options->device->storage->BB menu] and the doing a battery pull.

What if you disable it. Go to Options > Device > Storage and disable Media Card Support.

    See how it goes.

Did you ever find the answer to this? I just bought a used bold 9900 and it's doing the same thing. I keep getting an error even without a card in the phone.

Let's hope you didn't buy the OP's phone.

A bigger thread, which I had bookmarked, in the 9700 section and still relevent: http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...-error-377926/

You need to replace the 9900, or the memory card reading module. One or more of the pins are bent, or there is a short, likely caused by two of the pins touching, after one or more got bent.

Edit: Reloading the OS, battery pull and another memory card will not solve the problem. This is what a warranty exchange is for.

I think rootbrian is right. I still get the error message even after doing a format on the bb itself without the sd card in it.

I have seen this with a friends 9900 who tried to insert his media card that was damaged. The card was forced into the slot and would not come out. He had to use needle nose pliers to remove and it was not pretty. The 9900 gave this error no matter what you did.

It's not the memory card, it's the card reader module.

Yes, it is. That's how I got a device swap when I was with telus. It should be the same for any carrier.

A bit late here - I am having the same issue. I purchased the phone used but it is only 3 months old. Any clue if I can turn it in for warranty work considering this?

If it wasn't taken apart, the carrier should be able to make a warranty exchange, pending it wasn't older than the person put in the ad or wherever you got it from. If not, well, there isn't much to be done but replacing the card reader module. Bent pins suck.
