mine is warm, i find mine running at 30-35C compared to my 9700 which ran around 27C.

this is expected though as the hardware is higher end now, and will create more heat.

can everyone who uses a 9900/9930 confirm this?
does it get warm, is it warm all the time because of the new processor etc?

Got 3 9900's on launch day.
My cousin's phone get warm, mine doesn't and neither does my friend's.
So its no normal, but I dont see anything else going wrong with my cousin's phone so I don't know how much you should worry about it.

Mine gets hot sometimes. My previous phone, a Bold 9780, never got hot. Should I be worried?

I would put a reason on it because of the processor and also it's a slimmer device so less heat dispersion but mine only gets warm when I use it heavily while charging.

Had it happen on more the one occasion....it happened several times on my first 9930 ....once it got so hot that I was scared to touch it....the battery burned out in 20 mins....after that I called Sprint...went to the store to get a diagnostic . They said it was an unfixable problem and I received a BRAND new 9930 with all the accessories and everything. The. Second one overheated only once...solved it with a battery pull.

I figure in the winter when it gets hot it's a good way to keep the hands warm

My 9930 runs real cool. Old curve would get almost hot charging and playing music at the same time. The 9930 doesn't even stays cool.

When I first switch to os 7.1, this happened but after a few days and several battery pull, the heat subsided. I figured it was just to OS settling in.

I was anti-Obama before it was cool.

Mine gets warm/hot occasionally when I have no WiFi and the wireless signal is crappy. Around these times battery drain spikes as well, so I'm guessing it's looking for a good signal.

Mine gets uncomfortably warm, even when I'm not using it. I don't really understand why it would generate so much heat when it's just sitting on my desk, but it often does. I pull the battery out and restart it, and I've noticed that even if I just turn it on and don't do anything else, it still gets quite hot. Whenever this happens, the battery drains very quickly - of course.

Mine only gets hot when recording HD video or watching videos. Ubersocial is only half that. I guess the way they have heat dispersal should be on the metal outline of it. But they don't. It would be handy to cool it oFf.

Mine gets a wee bit hot when I'm downloading stuff and doing other heavy usuage stuff, but today, I was in class and so I turned off my phone and left it in the front pocket of my bag, which I have placed on my lap. After a 2 hour lesson, I took out my umbrella from the biggest compartment, and realised it was warm and hot! I thought it was just thermal heat from my body, but when I went to retrieve my phone, holy cow, it was freaking hot! I have no idea why this would happen! My phone wasn't even switched on... Has this happened to anyone else?

I think warm is normally ex.when you make a long phone call it drains a lot of battery ,and. When using app or whatever that use more cpu power but it shouldn't get hot, compare to my mom galaxy note ,that phone is really warm
    Ps.just my 2 cents

Mine did it today, drove home from work (60 miles) and phone was in breast pocket. Got out of car and phone was actually roasting hot! Battery was also almost empty as well even it had been charged less than 12 hours before.

I had this problem when mine nuked (red flashing LED wouldn't come on) I went to work for around 6 hours with over half battery full, used briefly on a 30 minute break, when I finished the phone was really hot! And nuked, when I managed to reload the OS the battery was completely empty, yet I hadn't touched it for around 2 or more hours and it was half full then.

I had this problem when I was in airport last week: when I turned on Whatsapp to send some photo battery burned 40% in half an hour, and temp measured by meterberry was near 50 celsius degrees. Battery pull didn't solve. I think my problem was related to poor 3G connection: even if I had full signal bars from my operator (3 Italy) connection was very slow and a lot of transfer error occurred. So I switched off phone, and when I switched on again (with 3G on but no data service connected, since I was travelling abroad) the problem disappeared. Tomorrow I will go back in Italy, and I fear about such problem.

What about trying it with an extended battery? I have a feeling it might be a small number of devices with a hardware fault.

I just got my 9900 yesterday and did notice the phone getting pretty warm. Hopefully it doesn't get ridiculously hot, if I use the phone a lot.
