I ordered a 9780 as a back up device for the Classic. Even though the Classic is a great phone it still needs a lot of work to compare to what OS 6, 7 is capable of doing. That being said does the 9780 work well with Tmobile? Do I have to call and inform them I'm on a 9780 due to BIS?

P.S once I receive the phone and if I want to stick with the 9780 I may sell the Classic...

Yes, it will still work for phone and text, and provided you get a BIS plan, it will work well for data too. If you get a new (larger size) SIM card, you might as well have them add a BIS plan at the same time.

Will getting a BIS plan increase my monthly payments with T-mobile? I already have unlimited talk and text with 2.5gb which is good for me.

If you are on a postpaid plan, no extra charge. If you are on a prepaid plan and pay >$50 a month, no extra charge.

You will also notice that it will be pretty tough to use all 2.5 GB on 9780, the BIS somehow condenses all the data and makes it less.

So if you were to listen to Slacker radio on your BB10 vs the 9780 you would use a lot less data on the 9780 for the same amount time.
