Why when I plug in my 9700 to my PC the internal memory does not show up as a drive. It used to on my 9000.

It's there because when i use the files application to browse i see internal memory with all the sub folders but it does not come up in a drive like it used to before.

Even when I go to options-->memory, on my bold 9000 i would see the iinternal memory and the external memory, on my 9700 I jsut see the external memory. I'm running .593 and i've puled the battery already

Internal memory, NO... SD/Media card, Yes if you use it as a mass storage device.

The 9700 doesn't have the built in storage memory the 9000 has.

the 9000 bold has 1GB of internal memory for media thats why you see it as an external drive... the 9700 does not have this, and the 256MBs is just RAM its not actually "readable" memory to the PC... make sense?

do yourself a favor, get a memory card, and if you have anything like pictures on your device memory make sure to move them to your memory card and then you will be able to plug it into the PC using mass storage and be able to then see the memory and whatever you want on the memory card...

    hope that made sense

The old 9000 had 1Gb (1024Mb) memory but it was divided up as 128Mb Device Memory and 896Mb as an internal secure drive which was non-removable. It also had a removable micro-SDHC slot.

The idea was that the 896Mb could be made private under BES and was thus secure for corporations to use. In the end-user market, this became just another drive in My Computer.

The 9700 is organized more like other BlackBerrys and it has 256Mb Device Memory (twice that of the Bold, for programs, etc.) and a micro-SDHC slot for media and documents.

You should buy a large capacity (16Gb, Class 4 or better) micro-SDHC card. 32Gb cards will be available soon (weeks/months) so you may wish to look around a bit before you buy.

    Didn't all 9700s come with a 2gig microSD card? Mine did. I have a 16gig card now.

AT&T gave out 2gb micro sd cards.I'm pretty sure they still do as of this post and are contained inside the bold 9700 box...

However 2gb is sooo small nowadays!

Yeah, mine came with a 2Gb too. I gave it to the cat to play with and she lost it under the TV.
