9700 keypad on 9780?
Hey guys,
Has anne tried to put a 9700 keypad on the 9780?
I just got an original 9700 keypad and am trying to put it on my 9780, but the trackpad is getting wedged and annot be pressed. Is it possible that the trackpad area of the keyboards is different?
Thanks :)

They're identical, other than the 9700 keypad has bright chrome frets.
I bought one by mistake and it worked perfectly until my replacement 9780 one arrived.

I cut a little bit of the plastic parts that surrounds the trackpad on the keypad and it worked. Thanks Phil for your help.
2 key membranes and a keypad changed yet the stuttering continues... Moving on to the 9900 really soon...

Wait, so even changing the core/keyboard on the 9780 with the 9700 the stuttering still happens?
-
In my case it still does.... I'm so sick and tired of this phone...

Either you're doing something wrong with the membrane/keyboard or the phone is just messed up. If there weren't any devices coming out very soon, I'd be pissed. I have the stutter and while it isn't that bad compared to others but knowing I'll probably go for one of the newer devices, I stopped caring for this POS sometimes.
Is there a fix or is swapping out internals just temporary fix? I've read the threads but no one has really commented on permanent the fix is. I've read that it works but goes bad again.

I really have no idea!!! I'm really baffled and am waiting for the 9900's price to go down a bit then I'm gonna buy it. Hopefully bye-bye stuttering, but I'm afraid I might encouter new bugs with the new device!!!
It's still around 850USD here, so gonna monitor the price and the forum for now :D

Bugs are bugs and are to be expected. For the most part, seems like many are loving the 99xx despite some bugs with the shipping OS.

I could live with software bugs, they'll eventually be fixed, but hardware flaws, like the stuttering... That's another thing...
