Alright, unboxed the 9650, got it activated and switch to my line so my sister gets the old tour. I am nice enough to let her on my account so she gets my public safety discount. I transferred the 9630 data to the 9650, but have not wiped the 9630 yet. So, I do a simultaneous reboot, heres what went down.

Everything started off equally. First minute they were the same, status bar, everything. Then, the 9650 jumped from 1/3 to 2/3 and the 9630 stayed the same. Another minute goes by. The 9650 loads to the sprint screen and starts the security tests, the 9630 status bar is now 2/3. Another 20 seconds, the 9650 is ready for use. The 9630 is still at 2/3, seems stalled, like it always does. 4 More minutes elapse and finally the 9630 is ready to go.

Both devices have the latest sprint releases on them (no leaked OS's)

So far, the 9650 is clearly a much faster phone.

Yeah my bold takes about 2.13 to bot up and that's it. That's faster than my old curve.

Ive never really understood why the faster boot up is important? Norm a device with more mem takes longer to boot up

10 mins to boot the 9630 is a joke though. Hope the 9650 is better.

lol, the old Curve you had does not share the same CPU as your new phone, that marks your speed differences there.

Also, if we're to belive some of the info depicted about the newer devices (supposedly ones that will run OS6), the flash memory used in the devices was of faster speed or something along those lines.

Since a BB's boot process is one of creating a virtual machine environment and then loading the OS processes into it to work, faster memory would equate to faster boot times. Think of it along the lines of the speed differences between a regular hard drive and the new SSD (solid state drives) which are nothing more then large flash drives. The speed of the flash memory in the SSD will govern the speed of read/write cycles to the memory and everything that depends upon that function would be sped up.

We have 6 Tours here at our office that all do a complete battery pull re-boot in less than 4 minutes each. All currently running latest official OS .591 from VZW, but all have different apps, themes, etc. of course.
