I switched from a 8350i to the Bold 9650 and really love the 9650.

However, it does seems the volume on the phone (ringers, notifications etc.), even at the highest volume level, is really is not really loud enough for even a semi-noisy environment.

Is it just my hearing failing me or does it seem that the 9650 has a volume/speaker issue? Other than that, the phone is great so far.

Just wondering if any others have noticed or had the same issue?

Check your speaker profile and make sure it is set to loud if the volume is too low for you. Maybe that will help.

I am having the same issue as the OP. Even on the "loud" profile, it still isn't very loud. Not sure if the speaker profile is the same thing as the profiles such as normal, loud, silent, etc. Hopefully it will be fixed shortly, as otherwise I love the phone.

Its nowhere near as loud as the Tour. Mp3's or ringers. I compared the volume on mp3's on the bold and tour. The tour with 3 volume notches left to go is as loud as the bold will play. But I work in a casino and I can still hear it. I set it to vib and ring

I've actually thought the speaker on the Bold has been better than my Tour... I have .699 installed (maybe that's it), perhaps you should give that a go if you already have not.

Yeah I def noticed a better volume on my Bluetooth and speaker (while on voice call) after the .699 update. Cant comment on headset volume as I almost never use it

Thanks for your responses, at least now I know the volume problem is not something unique to my 9650. Hopefully a future update will cure the low volume problem.

I have .699 on my Bold and the speaker volume for the ringer is way to low. I cannot hear it at all if the top is down in my car or there is other noise such as restaurants etc.

Same here with Verizon and .699. On the Tour I had the ringer volumeset to 6. To get the same volume on the Bold, I have to set it at 9. The speaker seems softer than the Tour.

My tour was much louder as well. Thats the first thing I noticed and I even checked my profiles to make sure that the volume for calls was set at 10.

I have the trackball click enabled (even though some think its annoying) and on my tour it was easily heard, but on my bold I cant even really hear it at all.

What's the deal with the volume everyone? I remember how it was going from the Curve to the Tour. Now you're telling me its the same going from the Tour to the Bold? Ugh.

The only volume issues I have are with using telenav and slacker. Both can barely be heard with the volume all the way up.

Seems every phone is different. My former ozone knocked me thru the roof with the volume.
My bold is just right for me volume wise. I have to set most of the volumes on the phone a couple notches down from max. On my 2nd bold and both were the same volume wise.
    Everyone's preferences are diff tho.

i had the same problem. i have always had low frequency loss which makes it sometimes to hear that ringer.
took me awhile, but on the phone i found an area in the sounds profile, where i could edit the phone ringer and turn the volume up and change a bunch of stuff. i had never see an area like that before; but then again, i dont really know too much.
    good luck

My ringers are low too. Changed profile from Normal to Loud, and pumped it up to 10, buy really don't notice the difference.

Coming from a BB 8330 I also thought the ringer on my new Verizon OS .699 was way to low even though it was set to 10 when compared to my curve.

Solution: Change Ringer tone under the Loud profile to Ringer_BBPro_1

This seems to work for me. Good Luck!

I have a solutuin to the low ringer volume. I downloaded a free program onto my computer called Easy Riingtone Editor( Easy Ringtone Editor for Free Ringtones 1.01 - download Easy Ringtone Editor for Free Ringtones free - Make free ringtones from your MP3's or CD's. ) and amplified each of my mp3 ringtones 150% and then 150% again. Now I can hear when the phone rings with the sounds set as Normal! None of the files sound distorted either.

I just got my 9650 this past Thursday and noticed the same. The volume is much softer on the Bold compared to my old Tour. I have a custom file I made for all my ringers and I am used to the way it's suppose to sound and it is def. lower. I checked all of my setting making sure it was all on 10 as well. I guess ya gotta take the good with the bad. *shrugs shoulders*
