    This is a technical question. But, if you are making a 911 call in a non-Sprint/Verizon area, would the Bold pick up AT&T or T-Mobile's network and make the call?

    All cell phones will connect with 911 even if sim card is missing from phone. Don't know if that's a requirement of phone manufacture's or not but all phones have that feature. If you can get a signal from any tower, you can connect with 911.

    IIRC, lawden is right, if there is a signal on an available band (GSM/1X), it will use it and connect to 911, even without the SIM.

    Yes, carriers are required by law to carry a 911 call from any phone.
