This isn't a new issue as it used to occur on my 8320, 9700, and 9780 but my TMO 9900 continues the tradition of dropping to GSM after connecting a voice call in a strong 4g zone.
Obviously, this negates any simultaneous voice+data functionality of the device, rendering it no better than a basic phone.
Can anyone explain why this happens and how to avoid/fix the issue?
I'm on ATT in a semi decent signal area, this also happens to me although I'm on a 9810 not a 9900, but my 9800 also did this. Just chalked it up poor signal quality.
I am with Telus and I am always on H+ no matter what. BUT I do however get Roaming warnings to Bell, Rogers and Virgin at the exactly the same place. For example, browsing the Internet with full Telus bars and suddenly get a warning saying Roaming on Rogers.
This is a known issue with Telus but as long as I am in Calgary, Telus do not count those as roaming. Telus, Bell and Virgin share their network.
Also, on Telus there is a SIM card error message right after the roaming warning. This is a known issue and Telus is looking in to fixing it. Please contact Telus customer support and inform them if you get this error.
