All of those speed tests are BS on a BB. There's no way any of you get anything close to those 15 or 44 Mbps, regardless of what they read. More like 1-2 Mbs at best. 15 Mbps and your BB would be flying, leave alone 44 -
as usual, you cannot test your speed using these sites through your blackberry browser. they will be incorrect. we just had a thread like this the other day. the ONLY way to test your speed accurately is to tether to a pc and then run the speed test. last week i posted my at&t H+ tethered speeds, which were between 3-4.5 Mbps (about 460-500 kb/sec), exactly where it should be. anyone seeing anything like 44 Mbps or like that is getting wrong readings. how many of these threads do we need?
The site you're using is not accurate to any extent. The data is process through BlackBerry servers, a lot of compression involved, which is why BlackBerrys "use less" data than other smartphones.
I've always wondered why blackberry users were posting such insane speeds. Didn't make sense, I'm an Android and iOS user myself and never have access to any modern CrackBerries. I had a feeling that it had to do with compression.
I've actually recently opened a new server in Washington D.C. --- and I'm further compressing the packets that are coming off that server. Go to TestMy Broadband Speed Test -- opening that address will set your default server to Washington D.C. -- you can also visit TestMy Broadband Speed Test - choose your test type then select the washington server from there.
If your test results are inaccurate due to compression this should help. But 40+ Mbps, I feel there is something else going on there... like the host is caching the information then not sending you the information... they are most likely seeing it as unnecessary information... because hey, it really is... it's a bunch of BS crap loading invisibly. They may just see that and think, "wasted space... cut it out...". I think there is more to this because at the most the data on the main server can be compressed 26% - that doesn't account for 40+ Mbps on a phone.
I'd be curious to see what the test actually looks like while it loads. If I had to guess, the progress bar BLINKS to 100%...
... I didn't develop my tests for blackberry, but with your help I can sure try.
