I made a post earlier about the Memory.
the problem is that even though it says 32Gb, currently there isnt even 16Gb that is available instores yet because it hasnt been released so by the time 32Gg gets out there will probably be better devices

This is basically a knock down punch for the BB; Apple is rumoured to be bringing out a 32 gig iphone and the fact that BB will be able to support just as much gives the bold an even longer shelf time.

Smart move by rim; now if only sandisk could build it.

Does 4.6 have install and run apps from the memory card? Or is that feature going to be in 5.0? If RIM adds that to their models they will truly have the ultimate smartphones. I know palm OS 5.x you can install and run apps on the SD card. But this functionality allows for limitless potential for apps. Not to mention upgradability as apps get bigger and more complex. Internal memory will only be needed for the device software and its related memory usage function (I assume it is used like RAM on your pc). Then all apps even preloaded ones could be place on the SD card.

I am not denying what the specs say at all, but it is interesting that at the Canadian launch, Patrick Spence, the Vice President of RIM clearly stated that the Bold will take "up to 16 gig media card".

He may of course have just used this figure because he knew that larger cards are not currently available anyway... interesting though!

Oh, and of course I believe that also just happens to be the max. built-in memory of the iPhone!!

Who the heck needs a 32gb memory card? I have a 2gb and that is just fine. The price you will pay for that card you can get an ipod to listen to your music.

Didn't Bill Gates once ask "Who the heck needs more than 640k"?

You can't be old. I'm not old and my first hdd pc was about the same spec with MSDOS 3.3 if I remember right. Windoze came later.

OTOH the first computer I ever used had 256 kwords of memory, demountable disk packs and a swapping drum

I would much rather carry one device instead of two. Plus the price is always coming down. Not long ago it seemed okay to pay around $40 for a 2GB card, now you can find 8GB for under $35.
