    Hello everyone. I'm currently running 282 on my att bold. It is my understanding that with 282 that I can switch from 3G to 2G. What are the benefits of doing this? How do I do it? Is this the newest/stablest upgrade out there? Thanks in advance for your help!

    Benefit: Save battery power.

    Options>Manage Connections>Mobile Network Options>Change Network Mode to 2G.

    Please do a thorough search before posting questions that have been answered numerous times. Thanks in advance!

    Other benefit includes less dropped calls, since there will be no 3G to 2G handoffs. Which almost always results in a dropped call.

    It wasn't a bother to reply, otherwise I wouldn't have replied with instructions. It was a simple reminder to general forum etiquette. I honestly wasn't trying to be unpleasant or be a forum police.

    Either way, enjoy the 2G freedom! It's a battery saver for sure!

    3G -> 2G = soft hand-off, can be done during a call (sometimes causing a dropped call)
    2G -> 3G = hard hand-off, must be done after a call (since you are not on the phone, no dropped calls)
