Have great working Bold on ATT. Phone fine, text messages work fine, email accounts work fine, and can send/receive photos on my gmail and hotmail accounts no problem. But MMS photos I try to send go nowhere...and a red X stays next to the message. MMS photo messages sent to me arrive in my text message box. I can see the message is there but no photo can be opened. It shows that same red X in the photo preview and nothing opens.

I've read all around the Crackberry forum...most all the postings are 2011 and earlier...not much of anything new with how ATT procedures are currently. But I've checked and confirmed all the recommended settings from them. Multiple battery pulls leave no difference. Also read around on the Blackberry corporate forum and no help there either. Called ATT...they seem confused by even dealing with me (note...it took multiple calls with them to get my data set up right).

Had a Bold 9900 last year until this summer when I wanted to try a Z10 for a while...missed my Bold so decided to come back to this device. I could do MMS on my Bold before, on the Z10 too, but not on this one now. I do recall a year ago when I set up that Bold, there was something with MMS then too, though I just cannot recall what the fix was.

Anyone got any ideas? This must be fixable...Pretty sure its related to ATT and my data plan, and happy to talk with them more, if anyone can offer me any suggestions of what I might suggest to them.

    ???

This has been an education...still no success. Still cannot send or receive MMS photos or any group texts. Deleted and resent service books and ATT swears my account is set up for MMS services. Its now being moved up to a case with a tech specialist with a scheduled phone call to come. Looking around the web...I'm finding all the things I've tried they have tried too...and what seems to be is that no one out there comes up with a solution. If it were not so personally annoying with my missing messages, it would be an interesting puzzle. Help??? Anyone ever fixed this???

I ran into a similar situation a while back, it had nothing to do with my phone, my carrier had to delete the MMS from my account and put it back on, It's worked since. Sounds like everything else is working for you, I can only imagine it on their end. Good luck.

Having the same problem...no MMS send or receive...just a red arrow and no ability to download what is received. So far in consultation with ATT Tech support...

I've been told my MMS is included in my data plan. And they have activated and deactivated it they say.
I've done multiple battery pulls, both while on and off.
Had my service books resent several times (have a MMS client and MMS transport books visible).
Have registered my Blackberry several times with Host Routing Table.
Have worked with three different Tech reps...two seemed confident, one seemed clueless and unaware of even what Blackberries were.
Have had all my settings checked and doublechecked.
Done two factory wipes and reloads of the current ATT OS 2435.
And confirmed any previous IT policies are disabled (this is a lightly used phone).

And still...while I have a 4G icon, Blackberry icon, and 5 bars of signal, and can successfully access the browser, and send and receive SMS and emails from gmail and live.com, I can neither send nor receive any MMS messages. Current status is pending ATT enhanced tech support researching and due to get back to me this week.

This is so annoying. I've decided ATT generally cannot figure out how to set up Bolds anymore. The one I had previously (and should have never put aside and sold while I tried the Z10) worked like a charm. Then again, I don't think it the devices...its the BB data services with the ATT network. The Z10 which I may need to go back to seemed to be fine. Very disappointing as really wanted to use this Bold until I could acquire a Classic in 2015.

End of the line. If you read through my postings you can see the difficulties I was having....here's where it all ended. ATT informed me that last two options to fix the inoperative MMS services were a faulty sim card (tried that and it did not fix issue) or some kind of hardware issue internally. So without any other options, that seems to be it. So I've returned the phone to seller and called it a day with OS7. Though I had a Bold up until earlier this summer, and I should have never sold it, I cannot see myself going back there. I'd love to have a Bold again, but just cannot continue the "maybe it will work, maybe it won't". I can see the advantages with the Z10 I have now, and without a doubt it is much easier and reliably to fire up and use on ATT's network. And talking with ATT's tech support or in-store personnel, I've lost any confidence that ATT can adequately deal with OS7...even if I had one that was sound. Hard to let go of that incredible device...but forward it is.

I'm adding to your post because I'm having similar issues with an unlocked 9930. I'm really just agreeing with you that everyone who seems familiar with BBOS 7 and BIS seems to have died. Salespeople look at a Bold as if it were a useless relic, not appreciating the pinnacle of the evolution that it was, nor the quality of its components. I've discovered that Verizon just doesn't offer any data services for OS 7 any more. I'm now going to purchase a used, locked 9900 for AT&T to see how many services still work. It's my last ditch effort to be able to use this phenomenal device which I'd still like to keep in my rotation.

For you and OP, I'll throw in that I recently activated an unlocked 2014 Bold 9900 with AT&T and it's working fine. I'm told via a member of our BlackBerry Talk BBM group that BIS is free with AT&T -- I'm certainly not paying any extra -- and even though I was initially told by AT&T I'd need a different and more expensive data plan for BIS, I got the BIS symbol almost right away. Everything works fine with the Bold, and I use it almost daily (primary phone is a Passport).

My company has dozens of Verizon 9930s working flawlessly. We mms, SMS, email, etc a LOT. In fact, we leverage OS7's provision to convert MMS to email, and back, quite a lot. We also have quite a few att 9900s and some 2014 editions. We swap devices very frequently with very little difficulty. Idk. Maybe location? I no longer travel beyond the states (conditions set by wife after "fourth retirement"... Lol) but quite a few coworkers do. They report zero insurmountable system issues. Not that there haven't been "hickups" but nothing that wasn't corrected promptly. Maybe our IT deserves more credit?? Idk. I've had so few carrier issues that my carrier trouble shooting experience is next to nil.

I do know I'm too frequently shocked at the level of animus directed toward legacy BB (and even BB10) in carrier stores and even at CrackBerry itself. It just strikes me sad that no one could seem to help OP & others.
