This guy must really love to be VIP. He paid $1600 for a prerelease Blackberry 9650 Tour2 on ebay. The device was on hand ready to be shipped out. The Tour2 was factory unlocked. Here is the ebay item# 280433766575 you can see for yourself it is branded verizon Blackberry Tour2 9650. Personally I would never have paid that. With $1600 I would have bought a LCD TV, paid my car note for 2 months and have money left over for dinner and a movie. I am excited about the Tour2, I can't wait for it to be in my hands. If its out before Christmas great! If its not well, I can wait. My contract is not up, but I would gladly pay for an upgrade. The best move IMO Blackberry, should release this product without upsetting current owners of the 9630 Tour, just surprise us crackberry addicts for Christmas release it as Blackberry Essex on both Sprint and Verizon. Wishful thinking but the reality is we probably will not see the Tour2 till...hmm, soon I hope!
lol the fact is that most people wont even know it's an exclusive tour2. some people in the know may mistaken it for a bold 9700 and only a few people will either bother to ask or recognize it for what it is...a 1600 dollar phone...
I didn't see this auction so forgive me if this is the wrong listing but was this the one with the etched numbers on the bottom of the phone as well? Or does that add to the value of the phone?

That's just it, it's NOT a $1600 phone. That's like someone spending $1000 for a Tour now. Either way, it's a rip and impatience gets the best of all of us. Do we care if he got the first release, sure, some might. But in the end, He just bought a Tour 2, something we all will have sooner or later for several hundred cheaper than he bought his. The word "sucker" comes to mind.
My 42" TV was less than that!! I would NEVER pay that much for a phone, but as long as he's happy with the Essex.
lol I agree! I'd rather use that 1,600 bucks and get a nice flat screen T.V VS a cell phone that most people only keep a year or 2. I guess if you have money to burn, I would buy it, but I dont have money to burn like that lol

I agree 100%
being the first kid on the block with a phone is ridiculas but you know i kinda wish that phone was mine LOL.
Have you noticed that they are selling it as a GSM device (AKA Bold 9700) and not CDMA/GSM twin radios device (which might work but with some tweaking in T-Mobile, Rogers, AT&T but is actually designed for Bell, Telus, Sprint and Verizon).
I posted this in another thread - but it bears being mentioned again.
The description of the item states - "Rumors says official release date is March to July time frame 2010. So you can enjoy tomorrow's technology today."
If I were a betting man, which I am, I would say a Feb release or even earlier is imminent.

i think you have an idea we should have a betting pool LOL on release dates for BB devices, $5 a day, who ever wins gets to choose what charity the money goes to.
