i think bump is a bit of an understatement, when/if i dropped it then yes, but just nudging like would happen typically, it didn't lose SIM connectivity.

I've been a month with my Q10 sim in my Bold without the adapter and so far the card has not moved. Haven't dropped it hard but living it in and out and around...wondered the same if I drop it hard, what might happen. But so far, so good.

I'm having trouble connected to BIS on this 9900 I picked up on eBay. It's AT&T branded and locked, but since I already have my Z10 registered through AT&T, is that the problem? Are there steps I can take without having to go through AT&T Support? I'd like to be able to switch between devices easily.

It won't work. Z10 uses micro Sim and the 9900 uses a regular Sim.

Edit: Apparently you can, if you line it up properly. My mistake.

Yeah, I have no problem with the SIM card, the only way I can connect to the web is if I do so via wifi using my Z10 as a hotspot.

Edit: OK, got it sorted out. AT&T needed my PIN and IMEI. Then service books showed up as well as the routing table. The rep did say that every time I switched the SIM card, I would need to call back to register the phone I want to use. Clearly, that isn't right, since I'm posting this on my Z10. Anyway, problem solved.

You'll probably only have to call back when you switch it to the 9900. Happens to me every time.

Hi Jamie, actually it was transferring fine, but I ran into a snag when I tried to turn on the Z10 's hotspot. Apparently in order to use the 9900 4G/3G data, they had to change my SIM card over from LTE, so I lost the hotspot feature.

So I just had them switch the SIM card back as I want to keep the Z10 as my primary phone. Kinda sucks, cuz it looks like I got this 9900 for nothing. Sooo... I may be selling a 9900 soon, lol.

Did you try fiddling with the tethering settings in the engineering screen? Could have a fix for that

No, how would I go about doing that?

Edit: nm, I found how to get the keygen, so we'll see how that goes.

Later: OK, found my way into the escreen, but don't see anything about tethering. What exactly should I be looking for?

you don't need a adapter. You just gotta line up the pins. I have both phones and it works fine.

Righ, that I know. I'm trying to figure out how to use the same SIM on both without losing the hotspot function on the Z10. If you're with AT&T, how are you set up?

Just wondering if there's a simpler way of changing from the LTE network I'm using on the Z10 to the 3G one (APN or other setting) so I can swap my SIM between the Z10 and 9900 without having to call AT&T each time?

Unless you have BIS on your current plan you will need to call them any ways. No BIS and very limited data with NO BBM nor EMAIL.

The Z10 will work in the 9900 despite being micro sim vs full sim as the chip is the same size on both, it's just the outer casing. Those adapters as mentioned in this thread are recommended though in case of bumps or knocks that will dislodge the sim out of place.

Also you have to remember BlackBerry Services is included with the Z10 BB10 but it is not with the BBOS devices so you will have to pay for the BlackBerry bolt on/add on to get the BlackBerry services which is likely to increase your tariff per month.

With my carrier, once I had the BIS registered for my 9700, it stays registered and my Internet will work on my Z.

There is no disputing that your BIS plan work on a BBOS device which includes a bucket of data to draw from, the same can not be said for a Standard Data plan, the kind your Z uses, will work on the BBOS.

If thats the case then, forget it. I thought maybe BIS could be side-stepped somehow. I can still make calls & text, just can't get any data out. I'm not sure what the CS rep did to get me online before (apparently it's more than simply changing APNs).

or do I have to subscribe to the old BlackBerry system thru my carrier?
I swap my T-Mobile (USA) sim card between the Z10, Q10 and the Bold 9900 without any issues whatsoever, no Carrier call needed, it just works and when it goes into the 9900 I always receive the 'your Blackberry was registered with the network' message right away, always a solid 4G in all of them, internet, e-mails and sms-mms too, I do have the unlimited everything plan though. Lately I've been using the 9900 nonstop as my daily because it is my favorite by far. Now the only hiccup is the sim card as you already now about the micro and whatnot, I just put the micro sim in a regular sim card frame with a tiny little bit of scotch tape and that's it, a 5 minute fix.

I may still have a couple of those so If you or anybody else need one of those big sim card frames with the cutout just send me a PM with your address and I'll be more than happy to send you one for free. These are not the kits but just regular sim cards which I needed to modify along the way during my Android, iOS and Blackberry adventure....

I bought one of those plastic ones from Amazon, but it's such a tight fit, it's easier just to place the micro SIM in the right spot by itself. Seems to work fine that way.

As for the data connection, I'm pretty sure, at least in my case with AT&T, it depends on the plan. I have the mobile share LTE, and, with that, it doesn't register on the network (no Blackberry icon and the host routing table is empty). It does label the connection as 4G, however.

So, without BIS on the 9900, there's no gateway to the Internet, period, correct? Is there a setting or parameter that can be changed in the escreen to get around this? Probably not, but doesn't hurt to ask.

I have a standard data plan. I tweeted my carrier and they added my number and the 9700's pin to their BlackBerry network, and whenever I swap Sims it gets data as well

I don't suppose your carrier is AT&T, is it? When I mentioned BIS to a support rep, she had no clue what I was talking about.
