Since I hate to carry the "Rogers" name around, I am waiting for Bell to release their unbranded version of the 9900.

I am wondering, wether or not I'll see the H+ or will it remain 3G? Anyone may know?

    Thanks

The word "Rogers" at the bottom/splashscreen bugs you that much to pay an extra ~$55? lol

Oh no. I have a "supplier" that provides me with cheaper-than-market BlackBerries. I am not sure how, but they're brand new in the box.

Doesn't the Bell version still have a Bell splashscreen?

Apparently there's no splash-screen on Bell. Even the packaging is unbranded.

On another note, will a Rogers 9900 work on AT&T with H+?

Just to confirm- do the Bell phones have a splashscreen?

Can the Bell device run H on the rogers network?

Does anyone else notice that there H+ service isnt thatstrong or is it the phone or what but miine seems like its always "Searching for networks" is this a different network than 3G? Or could it just be a poor antenna in the ph, the new bold is amazingly thin and an all around great ph but this searching for networks is a pain

Guys, FYI, there is no miraculous new H+ network! It's the same 3G network Rogers has been running for some time (HSPA+) - it's just be rebraded 4G (or H+).

If you had 3G reception with your last berry, you will have H+ - it's exactly the same!

Wow, I didn't know Bell phones didn't have a splashscreen. That's a little odd. Can someone with a Bell unit turn their phone off and on and just double check? Splashscreens only show up for about 2 seconds.

I have to disagree with this statement. I have a 9800 and just picked up a 9900. Both on Rogers and I just ran the test at texan.net/speed.htm

The torch came in at 917 Kbps

The new bold was 37090 Kbps

I know this is hard to believe, but others must be able to replicate these numbers.

Even though it is unbranded I believe you still have to unlock it to get it working on another carrier other than Bell.

and for those that found the speed of the 9900 on rogers hard to believe,

Has anyone actually ran a Bell device on the Rogers network to confirm that the "H" appears? This was an early thread and no one actually confirmed it. I realize that this has nothing to do with speeds but simply about cosmetics.

We can confirm it. They all use the same frequencies and all are fully compatible across the board..

So by compatible you mean that you've seen a Bell device display the letter "H" on the Rogers' network?

1st of all, unless you ran your speed test over WiFi it won't be accurate. You cannot run a speed test to test your network as all data runs through RIMs servers which adds compression.

2nd, the carrier network is exactly the same, it's the Blackberry's radio that is different. The 9800 was only capable of attaining download speeds of upto 3.6 Mbps while the 9900 is capable of upto 14 Mbps.
