1: if you live in the UK with estimated SIM free prices being 519GBP+VAT, 1000USD = 630GBP approximately so it isn't too far of a price stretch

2: IF I could touch the device before having over the money, I would hand over $1000 right now for the device, meh it's only money right! I'll be forking over $600+ for the device when it is new with taxes and all

3: Those that live for Status symbols... Having this phone prerelease is flashy. women pay $2000 for a purse!

There is a difference btw a quality expensive purse and a expensive cell phone. In 1 yr that purse can still have great value if not more depending on the brand. In the same 1 yr period that phone you paid $700 for is now prob worth $100 because new models came out.

value is measured far differently between you and I.

I see the $2000 purse today, and it in 1 year, and both times I see a $50 bag for stuff.

The Phone on the other hand always remains a useful tool, you pay $1000 not get it early vs $600 to get it at the regular time, so you are out $400 for a 1 month status symbol, $13/day or so.

I agree, value is in the eye of the beholder. In my eyes a $400 premium for a months exclusivity is not worth it. I greatly value being the first person to own something once its just released. Explains why I stalked out several stores when the Ipad 2 was released. I paid retail and still had the product weeks before the masses.

Things like the iPhone and iPad will always be full retail - when this 9900 comes out - do you think it will be a premium from the start and then come down a month or 2 later? They should do the opposite - give you a deal to get it right off the bat - and then raise the price. People will see them all over the street and want one and have to pay more to get it...... just a thought
