    Hi all.

I want to buy the BB Touch 9900 as soon as possible.
But from why should I buy it from?

Ive been looking at some Chinese sites where it was at an OK price.
Others sell it 300$, but I get this feeling that its too good to be true.
Ive seen it on Ebay for 1000$ so...

Ive found it on this site: Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 Unlocked

What do you think and what would/will you do?

    Thanks again

Really ebay is your best Bet there are some users with near 100% feed back with many many sales.

You are going to pay more, but really if you "must have it now" then about $1000 USD is what you must pay

(honestly I've been talking myself OUT of paying 1000 all weekend! I really am tempted..)

But isn't there also the chance that RIM can just shut down all prereleased phones (which would be the one you would end up buying) and you would have yourself a very expensive smartphone without a phone?

I would be cautious about purchasing from various websites. In most cases the seller does not have the device in hand at the time you pay for it. Additionally you have know way of knowing what you're actually buying. The 9900's on eBay state that it is the buyer's responsibility to confirm that the device will work with your carrier yet they fail to provide the 3G bands of the device. In other words you could buy the 9900 and only get 2G service because it does not have the 3G bands for your service provider. Also, if it is a pre-release device, unlocked, unbranded then there is a risk of having the PIN locked by RIM leaving you with a very expensive paper weight.

Of course you have to check with your carrier.
And in this pre-release stage its important to watch out High Copies from "shady" sites and people. Like 350% USD for a 9900 etc.

    DawgMan:

What do you mean with unbranded?
The Originals are available in China now. Theyre branded. And not a High copy/fake.

    So what is it then?

    Yes, the original BB 9900.
Im getting it anyways if the price is right because I trust my source 110%.
Let me know if your interested. Im still waiting for the price tho

    "High copy"????????

    How are they branded?

If you trust your source 110% you are good to go!

It is up to you. If you trust your source, get it and let us know how it goes. The RIM manufacturing plants in China may be leaking devices out, but RIM may track them down and block them. But in some countries, even if the PIN and the device is blocked, the phone will work perfectly. Anyway, the point is you are taking a risk here by buying this way.

I will even wait about a month after official release before I get this so I can look into all the bugs people have on their 9900. If there are too many bugs, I may even go for an iPhone.

Yes I know and Im of course aware of this.
And I will keep you posted here in this thread when I get it.
Im ordering it tomorrow and I will post the price here too.

This phone will just cost too much in Norway, where im located.
I dont think its worth it at all. Im not interested in a 1000$+ from my carrier here.

But is there any difference between these pre-releases in China and those on Ebay?
Is it the same risk that RIM may block these units on EBay too?
Im trying to figure out the difference

    Contacted ebay sellers!

NONE have the device, they all have distribution agreements in place with estimated delivery times from RIM in August.
