If he's not referencing that, he's just dumb.

Or he's referring to the Magnum.

Why? There is a 9900 (codename Magnum) rumored to be coming out this year. So why would you assume it to be a joke?

Because one 9900 is a robot that shoots .22 caliber bullets and has wifi that has a thread on the front page of the Rumor forum.

The other 9900 is a phone that get mentioned once in a blue moon.

I erred on the side of humor.

Well, hopefully the OP will come back and settle the debate.

I mean the touch-screen Bold. I originally got my BlackBerry to combine my cell phone with my Palm Vx so I wouldn't have to carry around two devices with me all the time.

But I've missed the simplicity of navigating and using a touch-screen interface even though I'll never give up the QWERTY keyboard for typing emails (email management is the reason I'm unlikely ditch BlackBerry).

The Storm really didn't do anything for me and the 3G on the Bold I'm sure is great, but to me it is hardly worth signing a 2 year contract and dishing out $250, especially when my 8700c does pretty much everything I need the thing to do (if it's good enough for the president, it's good enough for me).

As for the 99xx, it's still vaporware-ish. With CDMA 90xx and 89xx models to get rolling plus a GSM 95xx so we'll just have to see

The point of making it a touchscreen is so it doesn't need a trackball. I find touchscreen navigation to be much easier.

I would prefer to use a trackball or jog wheel or something while reading an email or an article. Just more comfortable and less intrusive.

That's somewhat like the old treo, were you have the best of both worlds touch and real keyboard. RIM is going to show them how a phone should be made!lol
