Ok so I'm wondering if they will make it so we have to always stay logged in or we lose it.

Also how about switching sims and then back again.....I'm wondering if they will cancel it again because this was the way I lost it last time I put the sim back into the 9900 and it was dead.

It would be pretty dirty if they make it so we have to use the one device until the end of June.

That's good news! And so I've decided I'm going to use the iPhone for all of my Christmas photos, and then immediately after I'm getting the Sim card back into the 9900 so that I can restore and save my WhatsApp and I'll use it from there.

I'm still a little leery to keep switching 2 or three times a month because of what happened the last time with my WhatsApp.....

Yeah I understand the fear. It seems that Whatsapp has full support for BB again though - until June that is. So I ASSUME that we're safe to switch sims like we would with any Android/iOS device.

Yes, WhatsApp even in the past works ok without BIS connection. Most of the non-BlackBerry apps works on normal data plan.

Looks like WhatsApp might keep working on the Bold 9900 and other OS7 (and BB10) devices a little while longer

Doesn't worry me as I don't use WhatsApp , but others may be interested

Is there an update of WA for OS7 in the BlackBerry World? Cause the old version did not worked on by 99.

Edit: downloaded once again WA from BlackBerry world - still does not work. For BlackBerry 10 there is an update, which extends support until January 2018.

Two days ago I have bought an BlackBerry Bold 9900 with OS 7.1 package 2807.

When reading on the internet that WhatsApp has extended their using for BBOS 7+ , I stood up and directly started downloading WhatsApp, but then when the downloading finished and I was setting up my WhatsApp it said my phone is too old and I should switch to another phone, because WhatsApp doesn't support my device anymore.

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? Because it normally needs to work on my 9900 for extending of Whatsapp on my phone...

    Anyone please help..

    Thanks!!!

People are talking about setting the date to 2016 and then supposedly it works. They are talking about this now in the resurgence thread

Got the download from the website.
Didn't need to re-register , it just updated and started up.
In settings , it now shows the Dec 2017 end date.

    For my Storm2 :
Hadn't been able to install - kept getting " Must be the same number that was registered with this device " error .
Used suggestion by " Mr Byte " on another thread and rolled back phone date and voila - All is well !

    ( Still haven't updated my BB10 phones. )

as well as the notice that has already been posted about the fact that we have weeks left for the service.

So RIGHT NOW IT WORKS (Jan 4th 2018) but we won't know by the END of the week. and it'll definitely be dead by the end of the month.

No TRICK to get around THAT!

Stopped working for me as of today.

Would get the warning that it would stop working but after pressing ok would open.

    Now it shuts down completely.

    RIP !

Anyone still able to use it ?

I'll keep an eye on this thread, and if/when it's all over for Whatsapp, I'll update the Working and Dead Apps thread accordingly. So do report whether your Whatsapp is working or dead.

    A work around :

Manually set the date back on device.
    ( I changed the year to 2017 )

Though as soon as the date is reset to current it stops working.

Hmm.... back when Y2K hit, those of us who were still using Win3.1 set our clocks back to 1972, because it was a leap year that started on the same day of the week.

Does Whatsapp still work if you set your clock to 2007? If so, at least the calendar would be correct for the day of the week.

On the other hand, setting back the clock must produce a ridiculous amount of certificate errors.
