I tried to install it on my 9900 for the first time, but was unable to. It says the phone is not supported anymore.

Same goes to me.. I think whoever installed earlier on will still get their services until end of the year but for those who just installed will not get support anymore

So running great and I will miss it. I am getting the pop up message a lot this week saying something like "you will not be able to use Whatsapp after December 31" or whatever, and then I have to click "OK" before I can proceed or even leave the app.

You might try getting a working version from: beta.whatsapp.com/ota

It worked for users on OS6 fairly recently.

If you have an account and the app already installed, it would work fine.
If you want to install it and set up your account, it won't work anymore.

Correct. mine is officially dead now because I just put the sim into my 9900 and it will not recognize my number anymore. It would have been cool if we were able to run it until January 1 like they said but who says life is always fair.....

I'm pleased to let you know that I finally managed to download a WORKING version of Whatsapp on my 9900.

Thanks for the update. So I take it the version on my 9900 that I did not delete might not work still if I try it again.....

If you didn't delete a working version then it should still work fine (experienced this with my mom's BB). Agreed... it's good to have this back up.

Well the funny thing is a couple of weeks ago it stopped working on me when I put the Sim card into it again but I never did delete it. So I'm hoping when I do attempted it will work.

Works just fine on my re-activated 9900.. Seemed to hang a bit before fully installing it. Thanks for link. Now I'll try it on my 9780 for kicks.
