I've never use ? on cdma, but can't u possibly turn off the evdo and use the 1x only? It's comparable to 3G vs GPRS in gsm.

    Nope. No can do.

Not possible on the 9930. Its all or nothing on CDMA. WiFi is great, if its available.

7.1.0.163 allows wifi only without requiring data services to be on. My husband's phone came with 7.1.0.163, and he showed it to me. I upgraded from 7.0.0.374 as fast as I could, and I much like that capability.

Worst blackberry life ever released. Within 1 hour of not touching phone I drop to 85%. And using an extended life battery would mean NO MORE otterbox (which is kinda stupid)

When I first got my 9900 the battery life made me want to go back to my 9700. I was always in the habit of charging my phone overnight with it turned off. I then noticed a huge improvement in battery for the 9900 when I charged it while it was on. So that along with some other power conserving tips I can get upwards of 24 hrs on one charge.

You sure have a problem, my 9900 has been sitting idle all day apart from a few text messages in and out and MeterBerry is showing a discharge rate of 0.3%.

MeterBerry is the only app I have installed and I an running 7.1.0.205.

In the working week with business calls and e.mails I rarely hit 3% discharge rate.

That's because you have a GSM device. 9930 is a CDMA device and uses more power.

Yup, pretty much everyone who is happy with the battery has a 9900. The 9930 is much harder on the battery. You can strip all the app's out of the phone and just use the bare minimum. Which really helps. But, what's the point if I can't run the stuff I want?

Having tried the big ugly battery which worked for a short time. I'm back to the smaller cells and I will just carry a second battery and slap it in when needed. If that don't work out, I guess I jump ship.

Yup I may go 4s next.
If I must have a device that sucks the juice then why not have a phone that just does things better.

I've noticed that my 9930 battery also drops to 92% with light use in less than an hour but seems to stabilize after that. Wish it was better, but other than that I'm loving this bb so I'm not complaining.

Yeah, that's a software issue. If you watch it charge, it goes to 92ish and then jumps to 100. So, the scaling is off a tad. I'm going on 5 hours with some pretty heavy use, and a good hour of Hot Spot. I figure I have another hour or three and then I slap in the second battery. Its the only practical solution. Get a second battery.

I've always nearly-drained my li-ion powered bberries then charge them fully and have always had great batt life tho, which is why I recommend doing that.
Same here. I get a day and a half usually. Even used Pandora on my 9 hour trip from SC to OH a few times w/o charging. I think WIFI at the house and a few other places I frequent keep the battery life a little better as well.

I would guess that you are running a 7.0 OS above .540 cos this is a well known glitch in the later 7.0 OS's.

Try the leaked 7.1.0.205, the battery meter is fixed and it is an all round good OS.

Actually I bought my phone on Friday 13th this month and that night 7.1.0.190 leaked and that's what I been using since I got my phone.

I have Meterberry...which shows about 10.5%/hour discharge rate.

When I use "device analyzer" on 7.1, it shows 6.5%. Both are wrong...my battery is in the red by noon or earlier, starting at 7 am.

Great phone, but the battery makes it almost unusable outside the offic.

I waited till now to replace my 9650 with the 9930 from Sprint. I am happy with the battery life. I can get a full day out with moderate usage and be in the red by 7pm. I keep wi-fi and bluetooth enabled. ( I have it bridged to my PB)
I was having issues untill I changed retrieval times on facebook, twitter, ubertwitter, to their longest settings.

hi all, just wanted to mention that I have a 9900 that came with 7.0.x and had horrid battery life. I upgraded to 7.1.190 and it got a tiny bit better and now I've upgraded to 7.1.0.205 and it's quite a noticeable improvement. I have wifi on all day and night and I set it to auto-off between 00:45 and 05:30 AM, I don't make a lot of phone calls but do get quite a large amount of emails and I can get a full 24 hrs (or more) before it runs down to the sub 10% and I charge it.

I have Facebook running, Whatsapp and Twitter, for weather I use AccuWeather. Barely use the maps though.

I am on VZW's 9930 7.1.0.163 and I can't tell if I've had any major improvement over 7.0.0.374 although it does seem a little better. Been using the new "battery analyzer" in 7.1 over the past few days and it appears I have a drain rate anywhere between 5%-8.25% per hr. I'm not sure if this is considered a "good drain rate". I'm changing batteries and testing that one for a few days to see if there is any difference. Please let me know what you think of my rates thus far.

That's a bit on the high side. 5ish% with heavy use is good. Anything over that and you'll want to look into carrying a spare charger, extended and/or spare battery.

On standby I get about 1% drain per hour and with moderate to heavy use between 3% and 5%. I have OS 7.1.0.205 on my 9900. For those folks who are unplugging at 7 and needing to plug in at noon...there's something wrong with your phone.

Hey, could you please define "heavy usage"? Because it seems it varies as to what people mean. Do you mean a lot of browser usage? Because I use my browser a lot and by the end of classes (6:30 AM - 3:14 PM) my phone is in the orange.
