    Is this the same type of glass as in on the 9800. If so, then is it necessary to have a screen protector? I took mine off the 9800 and found the glass to be scratch proof.

    I don't know for sure, but it feels like my 9780 "glass" which is plastic/lexan. So, I suspect it's the same as your 9800.

    It's glass...just not Gorilla Glass...not plastic.

    Yeah it's not the 9700/9780 plastic but I hope its as tought as the 9800. I googled it but can't find anything.

    You would think given the high end materials in the 9900/9930 they would have opted for Gorilla Glass, still I always opt for screen protectors even on the Gorilla Glass phones. You can never be too careful.

    it's the same sort of glass used on the iphone 4. Here's an easy way to prove it, I call it the "tooth test".

    Lightly tap the glass of each device against the bottom of either (or both) of your 2 front teeth at the top. You'll see quite quickly that on contact they have the same sort of response
