Verizon 9900 how to Phone as Modem

I have a New Bold 9900 for Verizon.

I want to be able to use the phone as a Modem.

I installed Blackberry Desktop Manager but When I try activate the Blackberry as modem it is not working. (Not able to connect. Port Error)

Is this the best way to do it?

Are additional settings need it?

Your network provider Verizon has to add tethering to your account. Call them, it doesn't cost anything but I think you need a minimum of 1gb data plan.
