Verizon 7.1.0.580: Correct release for the Americas?
Troubleshooting the non-functioning emergency alert app, appears to have turned into a quest. I checked the BB os executable I downloaded from RIM when 7.1.0.580 became available and it is exactly the same as what I just downloaded from Verizon through Smith Micro. I examined the binaries and the CRC32s match, so theres no difference. However, I havent seen a good explanation of the differences between the standard and Multilanguage versions, other than the obvious. Smith Micros download page allows choosing either one, but only shows correct stats for the standard release, even when you download the Multilanguage. Im guessing that the service areas covered for each one has an impact on what the emergency alert app is seeing (and rejecting). The two current VZW releases for 7.1.0.580 are:
9930cmpttAMEA_PBr7.1.0_rel1737_PL5.1.0.429_A7.1.0. 580.exe - CRC32: CCA6F59B Hex
9930cmpttjAllLang_PBr7.1.0_rel1737_PL5.1.0.429_A7. 1.0.580.exe - CRC32: 81368775 Hex
Would anyone be familiar with the systems (and countries) covered by each version of this release?

Verizon just released a software update version 7.1.0.755. This update fixed some internal issues. Maybe it will help you understand the issue you are talking about..
