I can confirm that the same build also fixed a friends 9850 this morning. I wouldn't be surprised if this fixed several 9930s like yours. I almost wish I had my original 9930 still to use this. Good luck

Edit: False alarm, I guess she got the 9850 to connect to JVM but it didn't go all the way through. Sorry guys

Forgive me is this English your speaking? I didn't understand one thing you said.
Was your phone bricked and 7.1 revived it or by updating to 7.1 you bricked the phone?

I think his/her phone was bricked before and may have downloaded the OS update to the computer and load it. You can't load an OTA update to a bricked phone at the first place.

My understanding is that if it's "connecting to JVM", there's at least a bootloader installed so it shouldn't be permanently bricked...per se.

I had the JVM 507 error and it seems that the update process first wipes the OS, then reloads the new one. Recently, I noticed that at the "connecting to JVM" point, it asks for the password again. ...so it's like the phone has a BIOS password, not just an OS/lock password. I don't remember the previous Sprint build doing this (or any for the 9650). I'd also try loading that one to see if you could at least get past the "connecting" point. If successful, disable the password (if you have one) and then try again.

Have you tried reinstalling Blackberry Desktop? A corrupt driver could be causing the interference. Also, on the troubleshooting page of BB's site, they say "turn off the power saving function of your USB port and make sure you're connected directly to the PC, not a hub".

It's near impossible to troubleshoot online. That said, I remember my old Windows Mobile phone having an issue (which was patched) where the internal memory would disappear. That could make it impossible to load the OS. RIM really bumped the internal HD on this phone, so it could be possible to be a similar issue. If I remember right, Intel SSD's were having a similar problem with HD passwords making the drive unusable (until after they corrected the issue with a firmware update). ...another option on the Windows Mobile platform was to reload the OS via the SD card. Not sure if that's possible with BB OS.

that's correct, apploader wipes the old OS before loading the new one.

Any news on this.. I am currently !! I was on the phone with BB tech support for 1hr30 min , sent them the loader logs we'll see what happens. Tried resetting to factory defaults with Command Prompt (CMD) with them nothing... used the Java APP loader to load OS, same thing. All unsuccessful the problem remains at "reconnecting to JVM."

"@zfly2008 , just tried updating via ONLINE didn't work for me www.vzam.net/blackberry, takes you to official BB website, Get Software Update opens up desktop software so back to the same thing, still stuck at reconnecting to JVM" --EDIT

RIM please fix already! Thanks CrackBerry any help is appreciated

FEEDBACK: I have deleted the vendor.xml (as I am with Verizon), however it will still not let me find the 7.1 update in previous versions after installing. I am doing exactly what you say from http://us.blackberry.com/update/

Confirmed. This does "NOT" work. I got the bundle, to install via web, and it gets stuck at RECONNECTING TO JVM. RIM now after countless hours I am Mad!
