    Hi all,

Firstly, I'm now on my 2nd BB so thought it was about time I joined up as I'm constantly looking on here for views, opinions, hints etc

I've just attempted to upgrade my BB to 7.1 via the BB website, but its telling me that no upgrades are available? Can you upgrade the OS directly from the handset?

What is the generally prognosis on 7.1? Worth the update?

    Ignore the above.

I've just realised that the 7.1 upgrade is only avaialble for the 9930.

Will 7.1 be made available for 9900 anytime soon?

RIM said they released it to carriers a weeks ago at CES. But no news for 9900 as of yet. All depends on carriers. If you are really keen, there's a leaked version that i think most of us here are running. 7.1.0.205. just check out the leaked OS section.

I've been running 7.1.0.205 (leak non official) for a while now on my 9900 - great, solid good battery life. Certainly better than 7.0 for me (tried several builds of 7.0). Unless a new feature comes out for 7.1 I won't be upgrading it again when a new build comes out official or otherwise.

Runnin 7.1 (.205) and its def much better than the current Virgin Canada build!

Thought I bricked my device during installation though.. first time trying to update the Bold (jailbroke my iPhone with no problem) and I got a 507 error. I hear its normal and happends no matter what but I couldn't get 7.1 to load. Ended up going to bed without a working 9900.. as soon as I woke up, tried it again and it went on perfectly! Don't know what the issue was though.. it seems that anytime I have issues trying to do anything really if I just take a break and maybe sleep it off it will always work the next morning lol!

Regardless, 7.1 works great so far! Faster (had a little lag sometimes in the menu), battery life is improved I think, and these extra features are great! No complaints

When available, don't perform an OTA update. It is long and painful. It is best to do with Desktop Manager or the App Loader.

If you have no other choice but an OTA, uninstall SocialFeeds first. This app has had many users sitting on a 4+ hour update. It should take no more than 30 minutes on a PC.

Looks like tmo just released 7.1. In any case, you can load any 7.1 for the 9900.
