I'll spend my day calling TMo CS until someone sells me this device on the 17th.

Then again, it's only two additional weeks to wait. If we waited this long, might as well wait another two weeks.

The only carrier that I see referring to it as the Dakota. I don't know. Doesn't look
so legitimate to me. But I could be completely wrong.

Heard rumors of a update for OS 7 on the Bold 9780 so they're holding back until the update is release. Also a Bold 9790 touchscreen, same specs as the 9700/9780 coming for Tmo in Jan 2012. Not sure where the rumors of the 9780 getting OS7 came from, but I'm sure that won't be happening. RIM has stated a few times that OS7 is for the new devices only and we won't be seeing any of the backwards compatibility that we saw with the 9700s.

Big part of that is that the new phones all have a different CPU in them, and that requires a different kernel. They would have to go back and rework a new kernel for all the devices that they wanted to run OS7 on.

Also, remember that CB Kevin had 188mb of memory left on his 9900 (Which has 768mb)? Remember that the 9780 has 512mb of memory, so that would leave you -68mb of memory after loading OS7. Granted they could strip some stuff out, but the reality is that experience would be horrid.

Hopefully some of us can get in on the business side of ordering and get a 9900 early!
