    Hi there,
Is there any difference between a 9900 that has been unlocked with a code or it has been factory unlocked?
    I thank you in advance.

No difference, unlocked is unlocked... but chances are that phone will still be carrier branded, and there's nothing you can do about that.

For example, I could unlock my Vodafone 9900 and sell it to you. Although it would look unbranded and work on O2, it will always have the Vodafone splash screen when rebooted, and will always look for Vodafone software when you plug it into Desktop Manager.

Also, if I failed to release my PIN and IMEI from Vodafone, then you would have no BIS.

...and if I reported it as stolen after I sold it to you, then you would own a brick.

Just be careful when buying from eBay.

    Really appreciate that Phill.
The problem I have is I can get one from eBay either with O2 or unlocked for the 350 mark or I can pay an extra 100 and get a brand new one from the high street.
Just got to think about the bigger picture of what happens if it needs swopping out etc.......
Also Phill, in a nutshell would you go for the 9900 or is the 9790 worth holding out for?
Just cannot wait to get back to the whole BB experience again.

Tough one that mate, I don't know what to advise.

Obviously your safest bet, especially with all this bricking, would be to get one direct from O2. At least then you could exchange it if anything went wrong.

If you bought one from eBay, ok you're saving a few quid, but you'll have no warranty to fall back on.

As for the 9790... it's a great little phone, but I would not recommend one over the 9900. They're just leagues apart.

    Phill,
    You are a top man!
Really appreciate that and your advice
That's exactly what's have been thinking as the few buyers from eBay that I have been chatting to have unlocked brand new units for sale but again if a problem arises I would have to contact the buyer who contacts his supplier who contacts me for a doorstep swop out..........it's a toss up that means if there is a problem and you have no come back then you would certainly have wanted to pay the extra 100 and buy direct from 02 in your nearest store in case of problems.
So 2 a week extra over the course of a year to have the back up of your local store sounds the best bett to me.
