I have recently switched to blackberry from an iPhone and I have been getting answers about all the questions I had about blackberry on this site.
So thank you guys!

But I had more questions about my new cool awesome device.
I have purchased the bold 9930 (it was already unlocked at the time of purchased) from overseas.
It is obviously a Verizon product but I am on the AT&T service.
I am understanding that I will not be able to receive the 3G network and will only get the edge network.
However, I have not yet setup or activated anything yet. So my question is if I will have any problem activating blackberry messenger and all the other service through the AT&T network

You need to make sure that your at&t data plan supports BIS and once that is done, make sure you register the device on the network if you want bbm and email to work.

You will need to set the unit into GSM/2G.

but i am a fresh newbie and i am not sure what the BIS is.
i sure hope i wont have any problem.
i was on at&t iphone plan so would that work? or would i have to change it to blackberry bold ( i think they only have the older model of the bold) plan?
please! any help from geniuses will be much appreciated!

You need to have them change your plan to a BlackBerry specific plan.

And you probably will need to manually load the AT&T Service Books since they don't sell that model.
