    newbie here...

I have a Rogers unlocked 9000 on ATT now and looking to purchase an unlocked 9900.

Mobilecityonline has an unlocked 9900 that they refer to as an 'import' available now. However, they also have an unlocked 'ATT US version' that is not yet available.

My 9000 is literally falling apart, so any waiting is a gamble.

Does anyone know the difference on these two versions?

If this has been stated - my apologies - I did search the forum prior to sending.

    Thx.

Thank you - I am just worried that the import version would be similar to the T-Mo version, which I understand from this forum doesn't work on ATT's network (3/4G vs. edge).

depends on where it is imported from. If you want to be on the safe side, just pick up another unlocked Rogers phone off ebay. I'm getting an unbranded phone imported (Bell I think) but it's the same thing as I understand it.

I would not get the Mobilicity or Wind version as they run on a different frequency than AT&T .. Your best bet is to buy one from Rogers, Telus, Bell, or Virgin Mobile

Ask seller which band it has. If it is Telus, Bell or Rogers then it should have 1,2,5,6. that's what you would want to have 3G on AT&T

Just looked it up on their site

    3G Network: UMTS 900, UMTS 1700, UMTS 2100MHz

It won't have 3G on AT&T, only EDGE will work

thx for the help everyone - that's the info i was looking for.

I was trying to stay away ebay (my company is paying) and go with a 'retailer', plus it looks like ebay unlocked versions are going for $750ish.

I guess it makes sense that ATT has to come out with their version before i can get unlocked AAT version.

    still waiting....

    Again, thanks all.

Dealer says the Telus version is:

850/2100 HSPA and 850/900/1900/2100 Mhz GSM

Just confirming that will work on ATT 3G - would love just a quick yes before i plunk down my cash.

    Thx.

Telus is 850/1900/2100. There's not a phone on the planet that gets just 850/2100 HSPA.

And yes that'll work on ATT 3G.

I just pulled the trigger with Cellular Toy Shoppe in Edmonton for $626 final - that's $100 cheaper than anything i was finding on eBay, for whatever that is worth.

    Thx again everyone.

Are they willing to ship it to you in the US? I have not found any company that will sell directly to you in the US.

Yes - they are shipping to California.

I specifically asked if it was an issue - no problem, I have my tracking # and should have my 9900 the first of next week.

If you get 4G on AT&T I would be willing to purchase one from them. Please keep us updated once you get the phone.

Could you be more specific? On which "imported" BlackBerry Bold 9900 would we not get HSPA+ when used on the AT&T network?

    Wind, Videotron, & Mobilicity ..

Rogers, Vrigin, Telus, and Bell 9900's are all HSPA + and also have Quad Band GSM - 850/900/1800/1900
    netnative likes this.
