I am unable to open or compose a text message. Had this issue earlier today, did a complete wipe at the ATT device center and now after a new OS reload (ATT .576 official), it's happening again. Any ideas?

That's odd. Do you have any texting style apps loaded that could hinder or come into play with sms?

Nope, no apps for texting. I have a feeling it's back to the ATT device center tomorrow to get a lovely refurb...this is about my last straw w/ BB.

Sounds like you just got a bad device. Have you had many others with problems?

My 8330 lasted me 2 years my 9650 almost 2 years and so far so good with this 9900.

This is my 3rd 9900...1st one bricked in a week and 2nd one's trackpad stopped working within 3 days. I've had this one since November.

My 8310 lasted me 2 years, 8900 lasted 2 years and then my 9700 only lasted 6 months before something on the board went bad.

It just seems like it's getting worse with every device and while I love this 9900, the build quality or hardware components just don't seem to be what we've all paid for.

Update: Still having the issue so I went into Text Messaging Options and switched the "Network to Send Over" to Circuit Switched Preferred and now I can open them but am unable to place/receive calls. My SIM card still shows "Unknown Number" and AT&T was unable to resolve with an OTA update to the SIM.

Any idea why switching "Network to Send Over" to CSP would allow me to open a text but when switching back to just plain Circuit Switched I can't.

My wife had a problem with her torch tonight where she couldn't send pic messages.

I pretty much resent her service books and reregistered her with the bis server and it fixed it.
