I searched the forum for "best deal" and "cheapest" and could not find a thread so apologies in advance if this has been done to death, but could someone please recommend a good deal on the 9900.

I am a light phone user so using dialaphone I can see I can get one on O2 for an effective monthly price of 24.79 if I pay 79 (as it's actually 21.50 per month) for 200 minutes on a 24 month contract.

That sounds pretty good to me compared with 32pm on Carphone Warehouse (phone free but it works out more expensive), admittedly 300 minutes but I don't use them (I use about 90 minutes a month.)

Or would Pay as you go be better for me? I get confused as I don't know if I have to pay a monthly charge for the Blackberry Internet Service bit.

Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I know plenty of you will have researched this in depth and know what I should do!

If you're thinking PAYG then T Mobile were doing an offer of 6 months free BIS when topping up ten quid a month. Unlimited texts too. Full tariff info here, dont know how that works out for you in terms of calls.

Free BlackBerry Sim Cards on T-Mobile - Get a free BlackBerry SIM card on Pay As You Go

Best deal I found when looking around seemed to be talk mobile on a 12 month contract 99 for the phone and 30 a month. 100 mins/1000 texts.

If you can spend the money buy the phone SIM free (459 on Amazon) and stick a SIM only card in the device. Three or Vodafone do good deals in my opinion. if you intend to use the phone for quite some time that might be a good deal for you.

I got mine on Vodafone from this dealer for 26 per month:-

    Blackberry Bold 9900

Certainly beats Vodafone's price of 41 per month!

I thought about SIM free, but running the numbers if I sign up for 24 months then the phone is mine anyway, and 459 equates to 19.12 per month so if I can get a free phone deal at 26pm then I'm doing well as the network charge is 7pm.

When I have looked at Blackberry SIM free (and keeping my Bold 9000) it looked to be about 15pm at the least.

    Or am I missing something?

No, you're right. If you can get a deal below 30, you might be as well off on a contract, depending on your usage.

BTW, I found the talkmobile deal via mobiles.co.uk.

    o2 do a 13.50 a month tarrif.

after 1 month you can drop the 3 data add on.

its a 2 yr contract so

    23 x 10.50 = 241.50
    1 X 13.50 = 13.50

    Total - 255

The phone cost 179.99 on this tarrif. (180 for arguments sake)

255 + 180 = 435. Sign up to this through quidco and you get 50 cashback.

    making the total 385

    boom.

The Quidco recommendation is great. Thanks for that. I need a little more than 50 minutes so I probably need the next tariff up.

How can one drop the 3 data add on after one month? Isn't it needed for BIS?

Yes it is but this was the cheapest way I'd found to buy the 9900. I'm on three and have BIS on that so didn't need the O2 data. The sale of my samsung GS2 plus a litttle cash on top means this is cheaper than buying sim free.

That's clever, buying a phone with a contract from O2 that you actually want to use on Three: I guess that shows how overpriced SIM free is.

Yep the sim free phones are 450 ish. I believe the tarrif 1 up from the one I posted means you pay about the same over the 2 years too so if you wanted O2 then its a good deal.

Bought mine on O2 for 13.50 a month and 179 for handset (although I noticed they have increased price of handset to 199 now!). Worked out cheaper than PAYG and I've got talk time and free texts, plus 100MB of data and BB internet services.

I was at Arsenal yesterday and saw an O2 advert for 125 worth of Arsenal kit if transferring from another network (I am on Vodafone).

Can I use this offer as well as the 50 cashback on Quidco, or are they mutually exclusive?

I'm afraid that's just too high a price to pay...

i'd h8-2 think they were offering me arsenal kit 4-3g phones

sorry had to get that out of my system

o2 seem to have some quite good deals via carphone warehouse, in the region of 32 a month including unlimited text addon, 500mb data and 600 mins. There are some cheaper ones but then you have to pay up front for the phone. Not gonna be for everyone, but its the best deal i saw for what i need from it (plus i begrudge paying up front costs, dunno why as you get a cheaper contract usually but still)

I knew I was tempting fate by mentioning Arsenal

I'm not a heavy user so it's probably going to be the O2 18.50 tariff direct from O2 for me. The handset costs more but the line rental is less than if I use Dialaphone.

Am I right in assuming that if I get a dodgy handset (quite a few mentions of poor QC on this forum) it will be easier dealing with a return through O2 rather than Dialaphone?

Can anyone answer my question about using the Quidco cashback as well as the 125 free footie kit please?

not sure about dialaphone as never dealt with them but the phones ive had direct from o2 where i have had problems they arranged city link to collect (from my work address) and sent me out a new one within a couple of days. Very quick turnaround i thought.

Ones ive had from CPW have been swapped in store so no issue there, not sure if dialaphone youd have to go thru them or direct to the carrier

finally ordered the Bold 9900. Presently have 9780 which I am very happy with it and was thinking of getting the 9790 cause of the form factor. But just didnt have the patience to wait. I wanted to share the deal I got as it seems quite reasonable to me.,

I didnt want to go for a long time contract and was thinking of buying it sim free but thats around 460 GBP. So the below deal was quite reasonable
I got it from talkmobile. 30 GBP per month, 100 mins, 1000 texts and 1GB data. and the best thing was its a 12 month contract. cost of handset is 99 GBP. so if we calculate
12 monthsx30=360 GBP + 99GBP(Handset ost) to it is 459GBP which is almost same as getting a sim free. its good if you dont have enough cash at one go to get the handset. and the best thing is its 12 months contract. So next year can go for another new model.

    cheers
