No problem with the trackpad on my 9930. The trackpad on my 9650 was slightly lower on the left side, but it didn't interfere with performance. RIM is still not consistent with QC on the trackpads but I think it's better.

my new 9900s trackpad is nice and high, maybe you could try refitting your screen to try and get it to lie lower around the pad?

the plate thing where the call end, back, bb menu, etc. buttons are is higher than my track pad so when i scroll around using the track pad my thumb always scrapes against the sides of the hole for the track pad, its rather annoying :/

You can always take apart the phone and adjust the trackpad which is not to difficult to do on the 9900/30. It might be lose because there is a piece that goes behind the trackpad to hold it in place. I just think after a long time of use, the trackpad gets worn down.. and so do all the buttons..

You can't adjust it, the 'gasket' the black piece behind the track pad is held in with three clips and its very firm.

The reason track pads are lose has something to do with the plastic piece being seperated from its bottom part, you can see this if you take your keyboard out.

Mine is sunken in and makes a weird noise.

Hideous QC on the best feature of the phone that being the kb. If it bugs you you can order a new kb or get your carrier to replace it. Likely the replacement will have a similar problem such as a crooked trackpad, mushy or raised call-end panels buttons etc. After a year of ownership and seeing 50 or so devices I'm resigned to the fact there are few perfect bolds. Still a great phone though albeit overpriced for the build quality.

I just installed a new keyboard and trackpad on my 9930 and noticed the trackpad is a lil lower then my previous trackpad. I see that the plastic piece where the 4 front buttons are, is elevated above the trackpad a bit more for some reason... Maybe that was their design when making the phone so everything was flat and flush with each other..

Also I noticed on my 9650 the trackpad was way higher and after awhile the trackpad favored one side since I pushed it more on one side. It seems I push down my trackpad in the center on my 9930 since it is lower.. maybe they have a reason for this.. who knows..

Doubtful. Just Plain old bad QC with little attention to detail.

It's awful that there are still keyboard and trackpad QC isssues with these devices. RIM has to step it up on BB10.
