Tmo 7.1 OS and Battery Performance, PLEASE CONFIRM
- Hello all,
For those of you with a T-mobile Bold 9900, can you please let me know about your device's performance since you updated?
I have updated to a leaked version of OS 7.1 before and the OS was Laggy as H*LL The whole device was much laggier than before, plus I didnt notice a change in battery life.
So I went back to using 7.0. But now T-mobile has officially released 7.1, and beside the new features, I have read from some users that the battery life on their 9900 is AMAZING now, some even say its like Viagra for the Battery... lol
But im more concerned with the performance of the device in general. So those of you who with a T-Mobile Bold 9900 who updated to the official 7.1, Could you please let me know what your experience is like with 7.1 so far? Like how smooth the OS runs on your phone, as well as battery life??? I would like to hear from some of you before I upgrade.
I would greatly appriciate it!! Thanks in advance.03-28-12 03:06 PMLike 0 - The only issue I had with TMO's "official" was with App World. After the OS install, the first time I launched AW, the device froze. Rebooted, launched AW and it was really slow; constantly getting the spinning clock even though I was only watching, not navigating. Couldn't navigate as every time I tried to click/tap I'd get the spinning clock. Exited and noticed MeterBerry was reporting 0% memory. So, I deleted the AW directory (home/user/appworld), restarted and everything has been fine since (2 weeks now).03-28-12 04:24 PMLike 0
- I'm currently running the leaked 7.1.0.342 and I haven't had any problems with the OS. I did shrink the OS with the BBH tool before I installed it and haven't notice any lags in the OS. I have noticed a slight increase in battery life.03-28-12 05:09 PMLike 0
- I'm on 7.1.0.342 and I really think is the best OS for my Tmo 9900. Best battery life, better than the 7.1.0.284 offered by Tmobile. Plus it has NFC, which the update from Tmobile does not. I don't know why Tmobile disabled it, but it is nice to have an OS that lets us utilize all the features of our 9900s.ericrangel76 likes this.03-28-12 07:41 PMLike 1

Also can you get Wi-fi Calling? (UMA) on .342?03-28-12 10:09 PMLike 0 -
No lagging at all. WiFi calling is a YES. It also has a nice tone that beeps when you're on the phone, if you get too far from the WiFi router, to let you know that you're in danger of your call dropping.
I think 7.1.0.342 is a hit amongst a lot of people...and carriers too. I think it has been approved and released as official for a number if carriers today, which is pretty quick, considering it was only leaked like a week ago.03-28-12 11:37 PMLike 0 - I must take credit for the Viagra comment
Tis was just my personal opinion, I charge my phone overnight when I sleep, take it off charge about 8am and i am a heavy user so it's usually dead by 230pm.
Now the update easily brings by phone from 8am - 6pm/7pm.
I haven't noticed a lack of performance at the same time. The only outside apps I have are Evernote and eBay. No games or other nonsense. Twitter is included since it comes with the phone03-29-12 09:11 AMLike 0 - I must take credit for the Viagra comment

I'm seeing similar results with .342. Looks like it might be browser. Keep your eye on browser memory consumption in application management. Appears not to be releasing memory after closing the browser and cleaning cache. I suppose you could call this a browser memory leak. Assume garbage collection is not cleaning it up either.

Loving it!03-30-12 02:52 PMLike 0

I'm on AT&T and loaded this on my 9900 but memory leak is very low. Haven't done a battery pull in 2 days and only lost 11-14mb according to meterberry. Usually around 1% battery drain per hr on wifi and 2% on radio in idle
