- As the title says, with the launch of the Bold 9900, things have definitely changed for RIM.
BB lovers are no longer the apologists, we are now the aggressors.
Rock solid hardware, mated to a software which just flies through what you need to do and the notifications which are beyond anything that's on the market.
Yes RIM is back and with a Bang.
I personally know a few folks who just traded their fancy phones (read iPhone) for the BB 9900. All they were waiting for was a solid and fast OS with the BB genes. They got that in the 9900.
RIM is far from dead as the analysts suggest. They are as clueless about the markets as they were before the 2007 meltdown.
I'm awaiting the QNX Superphone from RIM. I will buy that as an addition to my 9900 because I really can't let my 9900 go. Anyone on the fence about the 9900, I would say just buy it. You won't regret it.
I'm saying this after 13 days with the 9900.08-26-11 03:02 PMLike 13 - I lost money dumping my iphone to go back to my bb. I just got a 9930 and feel like zippy ui and bad *** keyboard coupled with a "nice when needed" touchscreen are real nice.
As someone who has been lukewarm at best about his last 2 berries, I am really really happy with this one.
This is exactly what I wanted.08-26-11 03:13 PMLike 0 - 08-26-11 03:25 PMLike 0
- I'll toast to that! I was so close to counting RIM out that it wasn't funny! I plunked down full price for the 9930 hoping against hope that I wasn't wasting my money. Boy am I relieved!
I see this as a bridge to the QNX phones and my NE2 with Verizon comes up next April, so I figure I'll pick up their new device then. Here's hoping the iPhone 5 doesn't blow my socks off and I can justify sticking with RIM.
I have the Playbook, and the bridge functionality which now tethers all apps to the internet without a tether data plan through my 9930 will play a part in that decision.
Keep it up RIM, you just may be back on the top of the heap after all!08-26-11 04:40 PMLike 0 - Its amazing phone. I cant put it down. Reminds me of how I felt about my first blackberry. amazing amazing amazing08-26-11 06:52 PMLike 0
- i loved it until i installed my apps and it started hanging and the touchscreen started freezing and i realized i was leaking around 40mb of memory everyday..
yea the phone looks nice, and its great when it works, but once again proves the days of battery pulls memory leaks and poor application support are long from over..
phone works great! just dont install any apps..
had berrybuzz installed, no matter what it flashes red before its color its assigned, and then it would randomly freeeze up bbm, and sometimes the phone wont come out of standby
i deleted almost every app from it and it is working fine now, but ya, its a bittersweet expereience..its like cant u just make a phone that wows everyone RIM? i mean its not like u dont have a loyal fanbase eager ready and willing to give u pointers and desired features..08-26-11 07:20 PMLike 0 - Apps will eventually work on OS 7 once developers update them and make them OS 7 compatible. And the excitement the 9930 gives me reminds me when I first got my 1st blackberry...blackberry curve 8330...though this excitement is 10 times better

- I LOVE this phone but it's not perfect. I already know I'm gonna need to carry around an extra battery because the battery life kind of sucks. And I already have a 1 inch scratch on the battery cover ... from taking the phone in and out of the holster. I hope it's possible to buy replacement panels?08-26-11 10:23 PMLike 0
- Replacement parts should be out soon. I always get them on cnn.cn. I'm hoping for a "leather" battery door with NFC ofcourse..I think this phone would look even better with a lether battery door cover. My friends and customer of mine who have seen me this week have asked "is that the new "touch" blackberry?". I'm like its "bold touch 9930" to you. After they played with it...it gives them a very good impression. They are amazed how a phone so thin and light can do so much. Mind you most of these people are iPhone/Android users. One dude who carries an iPhone4...was wondering how a phone with a touchscreen and full real keyboard fit in such a tiny case LoL. I'm like well thats RIM for ya..this phone is creating a huge buzz like no other blackberry. Even "froggy" a local radio host from Y-100 here in Miami has been bragging about it ever since he got it. He's a blackberry addict. No phone is perfect. This phone isn't perfect...but it is sure awesome and a very worthy phone. This shall remain RIM's "flagship" device until the "QNX" berry goes live...
