Attached is pic of my download speeds just a few minutes ago... I normally get between 80 - 160 KB/s. I have never, and I mean never, seen these speeds before while using BIS. It took all but 6-8 seconds to download 8MB pdf's.

Is this normal for some of you ladies and gentleman?

You average that much... Wow! Wish I could get these speeds all the time. It would make bridge browsing a pleasure.

Have you checked your speed with Fancy Speed Test? I get download speed of 1.1 Mbps with 583kps upload.

I usually average slightly higher speeds on 3G than your screenshot speeds. Your normal speeds of 80-160 are really slow.

The 80 - 160 is what I usually get using BIS. Normal cellular data and WiFi is much higher and at times near 3 - 4 Mb/s.

It all depends on your signal, I guess. There are times when I'm in my basement with a few bars, I get slow(er) speeds rather than normal.

Example, in the basement I usually get about 450 kb/s max.

If I go outside or have full signal strength, my speeds are just as high as yours.

I guess its "normal", but then again normal isn't normal for everyone, right? lol

What's the best way to test network/data speeds on the phone?

You can't accurately measure data speeds on a BlackBerry because most data goes through RIM's servers, and not over your carrier's network.

The only way to get a true figure is while tethered to a PC.

Or try Fixmo Tools. Has a speed test app built in.
